"Amazing value for money"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I am pretty satisfied with the guitar. It makes me sound so much better than I am and I can impress with ease! I might wear it out, but I will probably wear out my fingers first. I could be persuaded to take home a Gibson or a Fender, but theres no guarantee I wouldnt still reach for this baby first!
Sound
The sounds you can achieve with this thing vary from the sublime to the ridiculous! The good effects are awesome, but there are some ones in there that wouldnt be out of place in a sci-fi movie! Even without the effects, the guitar plays well through my Marshall practice amp.
Features
I got a real bargain. I think it was the last in stock and it was reduced to clear. it came with a strap, bag, extra strings, an effects pedal and a pair og headphones (much to the delight of my wife!)
Ease of Use
Once you get used to the controls, the sounds just come tumbling out. I have "banked" about 8 sounds I use regularly and this makes finding them as simple as toggling a switch or rotating the value knob. The manual isnt the best in the world, but is adequate given the intuitive nature of the controls.
Quality
In terms of quality, I can't fault it. I left the guys at Merchant City Music to set the guitar up... the said come back in half an hour... it was ready in 5 minutes. Its as sturdy as any budget priced guitar and better than a lot of branded axes I could mention
Value
On the day I bought the guitar, I tried about 6 others, including a Les Paul, a Telecaster and a Yamaha Strat copy. Even the Ibanez I went in on purpose to buy felt less natural than this one.
Manufacturer Support
No need, and I have had the guitar over a year, playing every day.
The Wow Factor
I could live without this baby, but I sure would have to take up fishing! I could never call it sexy, but it sure feeeeeeels good in my hands! I have a friend who is a professional musician, and he loves the idea, although he thinks the effects would be much better mated to a better quality instrument. But guess which guitar he picks up every time we get together????

Sound
Unbelievable... This guitar blows all of my others away. The fx are outstanding.
Features
Never seen anything like this.
Quality
I can't believ the value for the price. This guitar plays and sounds better than all of my other guitars. This includes guitars that I paid more than $800.00.
Value
Got allot more than I expected.

"The Alesis X Guitar - it'll make ex-players into players again!"

This guitar meets my needs to a "T". If you don't want to spend a lot to get a lot, then this is the electric guitar for you! I've been playing for over 30 years and own/bought/sold/traded a lot of guitars and gear over the years. The current inovations and offerings in guitars and guitar electronics are simply amazing - it's a great time to be a musician with all the options currently out there. What will they think of next? I would definitely purchase another one if it were lost or stolen - there's currently nothing exactly like it out there! Hey Fender, take a look-see!
Sound
It's not perfect so just a 9 here. The presets are decent sounding. Some are very good, some are noisy and some sound just too weird coming out of a guitar. The noise/hiss level is more apparent when using headphones and the Noise Reduction setting is only fair. All of the presets are tweakable to your own taste, and most if not all the presets need some adjustment. It's not a real strat but sounds and tones are pretty decent with the effects turned off and plugged straight into an amplifier. Some may think it's gimicky to have all the effects built in - but it will satisfy the needs of a lot of casual players not wanting to spend a lot for a lot of sonic options.
Features
It's got built-in effects, the main reason I purchased one! You don't have to buy a whole slew of pedals or haul out all of the pedals you may already have, to practice or perform - just 4 fresh double AA's or rechargeables and a pair of headphones - there's even a built-in tuner, which at first is tricky to figure out how to use/read it on the 2 digit display. This is the perfect first guitar for a beginner or intermediate electric player. You don't even need an amp. You have to read the manual to understand how to tweak the presets to your taste. Although you need to also purchase the optional($50)footswitch/pedal unit to take full advantage of all the effects, such as the wah, volume, flanger, etc.
Quality
Seems to be very well built and solid. The whole guitar is beautifully finished in gloss black with chrome hardware and a white plastic pick guard (classic strat look). The headstock matches the body paint; gloss black with the X Guitar logo and the Alesis brand name painted in white on the headstock. The frets are well dressed and the action/setup and intonation was good right out of the box. It is strung up with extra-light 9's, with a comfortable 1 11/16" neck (at the nut)and very easy to bend notes. The fit and feel is excellent and so far it stays in tune very well - it compares to the Squier Strat in overall feel. They must have decent quality control at the Chinese factory where they produce these. But time will tell if everything holds up. For a strat copy with built in effects and decent sounds and tone under $250, this guitar is a pretty good deal.
Value
For my needs, this is perfect. I am a semi-pro (weekend coffee house gigs, parties, small gatherings) and primarily play acoustic type music, but also play live looping songs (play and record/loop live guitar rhythms and solo over it). So I needed an electric guitar and effects to add to and enhance my sound. This guitar fits the bill without using up additional floor space for extra pedals, patch cords, power supplies, etc. The only other "professional" unit that compares to this (with built-in effects and decent sounding) is the Fernandes Nomad - which is more expensive and smaller in size because it's primarily a travel/practice electric guitar. The Alesis X Guitar is a full-sized strat copy and looks and feels like pro gear even though it's relatively inexpensive. If you can live with the fact that it's not a real Fender or Squier Stratocaster and also that you're saving hundreds of $$'s on not having to purchase a whole slew of pedals, patch cords, etc., then you need this guitar. Although you do need to purchase the optional footswitch/footpedal to take full advantage of all its' effects.
Manufacturer Support
Have not yet dealt with Alesis or their services directly. This is the first Alesis product I've owned. Their website is pretty good in detailing their product line.
The Wow Factor
This product qualifies for top billing in the "Less is More" category. This guitar and optional foot pedal is all you need to sound pretty close to the big boys. Tweak the preset flavors to your tastes and rock on!

Manufacturer Support
dont know havent needed any support but judging by correct out of box set up and sound qaulity they actually care about making great sounding guitars must be musicians who actually play them.
The Wow Factor
once you hear and play this guitar youll realize looks dont mean a thing this thing sounds incredible and is trouble/ hasslefree thats what makes a guitar more buetiful than any quilted top abalone binding beatiful finished guitar that requires set up and constant resetting

Well Overall its a great gutair. The next step is if you want to whip out a few thousand for a custom made gutair. But the change from this to that is still very subtle. This gutair will be with you for awhile.
Sound
An ocasional buzz when playing but if you have it pluged into an amp that's cranked up its rarely noticable. For a beggining/average Guitar player good sound for the price. If you want anything beter you beter take out a few grand for a custom guitar. Sound overall prolly 83/100*
Features
The Alesis distortion built into the guitar was what hit me. It's great for a casual or intermediate rock band its features should make you able to find a gig if you just open the manual and mess around with it for a bit. For this type of playing you should have everything you need. The only downside is that you can't skip around quickly between sounds if you in a guitar solo or whatnot. Overall features prolly 96/100*
Quality
There were a few little nicks in the guitar when i got it but nothing unreasonable or noticeable . For a beggining/early advanced guitar great quility. Overall Quality 91/100*
Value
It usally runs about twice as much as Fender Stratocasters. But with all the built in synth into the guitar it makes this alot more portable, and for just having a good time with bandmates this is worth the extra $$ you pay for it. It really is a good value. Overall Value 98/100*
Manufacturer Support
Alesis is a trustworthy company. I've bought synth effects for my keyboard from them without problems many times. But its always good to have some sort of warranty even on quality products. Support of Alesis 100/100*
The Wow Factor
Well to be honost its pretty generic when you get it. But it is one that you can customize yourself due to the black and white color. After you put some Incubus stickers or whatnot it can be as sexy as you want it to be. Overall 81/100* after you make it custom 95/100*
