"I can hear why the pros use them!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'll probably keep these forever and if they were lost or stolen I'd look into replacing them with new DF's. I think what I like most about these is they never get tiring and make me want to extend the listening session.
Sound
The sound is open. Instruments are separated very well with none overbearing any other. Base is tight, reaches good depth and plentiful while always being just part of the music instead of blowing you away. The mids are just right with voices sounding natural and the highs are sweet with absolutely no harshness. No wonder the pros choose them--they're so accurate! Good recordings sound fantastic and bad ones are shown for what they are.
Features
They're very light and comfortable! I would like a longer cord so I might be looking for an extention.
Quality
These are made very well. They'll last forever unless you stomp on them.
Value
Yes - worth the price.
Manufacturer Support
Have not dealt with the company.
The Wow Factor
I wanted pro style, accurate phones at a good price. These foot the bill.

i've had these forever and they still work like new. comfortable, extra long cord is great, handsome (headphones ... not me), the only negative i can see is so insignificant as to hardly mention .. that is ... the small metal tabs that contain the model both came unglued and are lost somewhere in the distant past.

"a decade of use: AKG K 240DF"

I'll be satisfied forever! I may invest in a secondary pair that is a sealed back for noisy environments, but I intend to stay with the AKG line with the outstanding performance these have given me.
Sound
Purchased it over the K240M due to the more accurate sound reproduction it has. Never had problems in the 9 years I have owned the unit it has always performed. It's great for studio and home use; The only exception is with noisy environments. Electrical tape over the vented backs of the 240DF helps so you can hear your work better in noisy places. The AKG's offer a much more accurate sound reproduction compared to other companies headsets.
Features
For home use I recomend having a headphone amp due to the 600ohm resistance. Also a small gig bag to transport them in is nice to avoid damage to your investment.
Quality
Top notch. the 240DF's are calibrated more so then any one on the consumer market can understand. If for some reason you ever have a solder come loose or the plug becomes damaged it is very simple to repair or replace that part on your own. The 10 foot cord is longer than most of the units on the market. The leather headband gives you all around support so you can wear the unit for +8 hours and not be in pain as a result of it.
Value
Well worth the cost for the performance it gives out!!
Manufacturer Support
Never needed to. No problems ever arose with my unit.
The Wow Factor
I would cry if I had to use the cheap (brand names left out) phones over my AKG's!! The comfort & quality say it all.

AKG K240DF Headphones Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Value
To go with my comments below, I bought these for CAN$30 secondhand from a car stereo shop. Buddy wanted $50 but I got him down. I'd say that's value. :)

"Great Detail in a quality package."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
These are very accurate headphones for when you really need to hear the little details. They will spoil you.
Sound
The detail produced by these headphones is excellent. I hear things when listening with them that I've never heard on any other headphones or speaker system. The openness makes it easy to locate instruments in the stereo field. As mentioned already, they don't accentuate low frequencies like other headphones and most speakers. My first mixes with them had way too much bass when played on other systems. I've gotten better, it requires more careful listening. But since the detail is there, it's a matter of training your ear. Still, I prefer these for tracking rather than for final mixdown (which is better done with monitors).
Features
The fact that they are 600 ohm means you really need a headphone amplifier to drive them. You can hear ok without one, but overall response is better with than without. The auto-adjusting headband is very comfortable and convenient. Unlike most other headphones, my ears don't hurt after hours of wearing them. They're also quite light, which is a nice feature in itself.
Quality
No defects, and they appear to be very well made.
Value
Their performance is at least as good as the US$200 price.
Manufacturer Support
Never needed it.
The Wow Factor
The most desirable thing about these is the amazing detail, followed next by their great comfort.

"I love them."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Open, clear, detailed and accurate. What I hear in the room sounds like what I hear on these headphones (assuming the mic is good).
Features
I love the auto adjusted head band and the tough cable. I found the headband to be a tad loose, where they would fall off if I moved myhead to fast. However, I could wear these for hours with no bad affects.
Quality
Indestructable in my world and every pair I own perform the same. I don't need to mark them up to know which pair is for mixing and which pair is for tracking. The headphones I own from other companies don't sound the same even though they are the same model.
Value
For the money, nothing comes close.
Manufacturer Support
Had an issue with a cable, my fault, and AKG fixed it immediately. Great service.
