""Simply the best"....buy it, you won't find better for the money."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Many years ago, before buying, we tried all kinds of mikes and this one won, hands down. asthetically, it could be better and it looks very dated...not surprising as it has been around a long time!
Sound
As an ex pro vocalist/guitarist I used this mike for about eight years with no problems whatsoever and so did my pro singing (female)partner, who has only recently 'retired', after eighteen years with one....!! We used it to record the voals on a live album some years ago and it produced a better result than previous studio recordings. 'Live', we used with a Bose/Studiomaster PA and had CD quality 'live' sound long before CDs were common! Needless to say, I recommend this product as the finest vocal mike I know of...certainly at this price. After a gap of some years from performing, I am just about to buy another of these mikes.
Features
Small, light and compact.
Ease of Use
Connect...and sing!Adjust for personal taste and voice...easy.
Quality
We used two, on the road, in various countries and climates for many years,as stated above....no problems, ever.
Value
It is expensive...but a great mike.
Manufacturer Support
Never had cause to!
The Wow Factor
"sex appeal"?!....It is a functional piece of gear...not a 25 yr old, size 10 blonde!:)

"A dynamite hand-held stage condensor."

I can't imagine finding a better sounding microphone that is equally good for stage or studio. Sometimes the most expensive equipment isn't always the best. I would replace this mic instantly if it were lost or stolen. The main reason I bought it was because I learned it was used as a stage mic by both Sting and Paul McCartney. Enough said?
Sound
For the money, this is possibly the best all around condensor mic on the market! I have over 30 years experience as a lead vocalist, and this mic flat out blows every other mic away I've used in the past. It is warm, accurate, and reproduces every little vocal nuance.
Features
Has a very nice 4-position bass rolloff feature. You can dial in just the right amount of bottom end to suit your needs.
Ease of Use
The bass rolloff is a little bit difficult to adjust. It requires a pen or some other small instrument to move the button that sits in a recessed hole. However, frequent adjustments aren't really necessary.
Quality
This mic is solid as a rock. I've used one on the road regularly for about 5 years now without a hitch.
Value
For the money, this is perhaps the best stage condensor mic a person can own. You can spend a whole lot more and not get nearly as good a sound.
Manufacturer Support
I have never had to deal with the company regarding this product, but AKG is a reputable company.
The Wow Factor
This mic is a bit smaller than most hand held stage mics, and considerably smaller than most large diaphragm studio mics, but sounds as good or better and works well for both applications.

"Haven't found a competition to this yet!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sounds great, only lagging features are the design, filter switch and i didn't get a roadcase with it.
Sound
This mic wasn't meant for my voice, it was meant for my wife's voice, and so when we were deciding to purchase, we had a test of several competitive handheld condensers before we decided. We tried Shure SM87, Audix OM7(i think?), Sennheiser E865 as well as Rode. Didn't get my hand on Neumann KMS105 though. Only the E865 could compete the C535EB in term of matching response to her voice, the rest didn't sound as good. The E865 had a lower gain, so we decided to get the C535EB. Back home, i recorded an compared the C535EB with several other mics i had like Shure SM58, Audix OM2, Audiotechnica XM5S. I realised SM58 and XM5S had more noise at the background and more muffed. The OM2 was pretty clear with very little noise. The C535EB was clear as ever with almost unheard background noise. I rate a 9 since no mic matches everyones voice.
Features
I was expecting a hardcase to come with such a large investment. Don't really like why the filter switch needs a test pen to adjust.
Ease of Use
Tested it far miking and it sounded great too. The proximity effect isn't too outrageous, it was just nice. The mics sounds very smooth indeed. As well i competed the mic on hihats and it has became my favourite hihat mic. On the comparison, i tried Behringer ECM8000, Audiotechnica AT9400, Audiotechnica AT4033A, Cerwin Vega UE1. The C535EB appeared to sound best with my 13" K Mastersound Hihats. It captured smoothly and at the right balance. On my 15" A Fast Crash however, it wasn't really great. I still have yet to try it out on other sources.
Quality
Feels very good.. Sturdy material..
Value
I spending the money worth. Can't say it's over expensive, not that cheap. Just priced right.. Well, i always wish things were cheaper anyway, who don't!!

Doesn't look that pretty though. Wish it had a better design!

"Amazing mic!!"

Sound
Fantastic sound on everything I've tried. This is one of the best sounding mics I've used and I've used a lot of mics! Rugged construction and a nice feel. This is the best compromise between performance, price, and road-worthiness imo.

An all around great product. I'm not a big fan of AKG mics in general, but this model is an exception.
Sound
Great sound. Almost as good as my other high end condensers costing 5 to 10 times as much! Sounds good to great on everything I've tried.
Quality
Made in Austria. Rugged. Seems built very well and not sensitive to humidity.
Value
Incredible value. Eats any of the Shure handhelds for lunch.
Manufacturer Support
AKG are easy to deal with.
