Explore the gear that makes up a sound reinforcement system, then see it all together in various applications...

Whether you're running sound for a band, a house of worship, an acoustic duo or a full-fledged concert, or simply want to understand how to set up a PA, Exploring Sound Reinforcement -- an instructional DVD from Yamaha Professional Audio -- is a "must-see" for anyone planning or operating a sound system.

This two-hour-plus DVD is an update of the venerable Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook, and offers a clear and concise overview of live sound for the novice or professional. The disc includes five sections covering basic sound system components and how they all fit together, sample system setups and mixing and monitoring techniques, plus good working practices and troubleshooting, presented in a logical, "signal flow" style. The presentation intersperses hands-on demonstrations, tips and techniques used in real live sound situations with advice from experts. View excerpts from the DVD

"While the equipment used in the making of the disc is predominantly made by Yamaha and Shure, great care was taken to ensure that both the DVD and the techniques presented are applicable to any make or type of audio gear," says Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager, Yamaha Professional Audio. "The real purpose of this DVD is to explore everything that makes up a sound system and see it working all together in various applications."

The disc features six languages -- English, Spanish, read more French, German, Italian and Japanese -- and contains no region encoding, so it can be played anywhere in the world without formatting issues.

"Instructional DVDs are really today's reference books," says John Schauer, product manager, Professional Audio. "The beauty of the format is that you can watch it at home in a DVD player, or on-site in a computer. If you need to review anything, it allows you to skip directly to, or repeat, a specific section."
