What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Dreadnought body shape Traditional shape and sound; familiar feel
African mahogany back and sides Warm tone; open midrange
Sitka spruce top Projects rich, crisp and responsive tone
Ebony fretboard Dark color, tight grain; premium fretboard wood

Solid African mahogany backs and sides and gloss-finished Sitka spruce tops provide a clear, balanced tone, while wood fiber binding, pearl fretboard inlays, and chrome Taylor tuners streamline the look. The 300 series is a great introduction to premium-quality, American-made, solid wood guitars.

The 310 is a dreadnought that typifies the Taylor experience: solid wood construction, impeccable detailing, and a clear, distinctive tone.

African Mahogany Body and Sitka Spruce Top

The warm tone and open midrange of African mahogany balances the bright and snappy characteristics of a Sitka spruce top. The resulting combination provides the perfect guitar for strong, rhythmic playing styles.

Dreadnought: A Traditional Shape, Refined by Taylor

Taylor combines classic dreadnought volume and bass response with the definitive Taylor sound: clear trebles and an open, airy midrange that Bob Taylor's signature design accentuates. Dreadnoughts respond especially well to flatpicking or light-to-heavy strumming.

Satin-Finished Back and Sides with Gloss Top

The finish used to create this guitar's textured satin back and sides and lustrous gloss top was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultra violet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

I bought a beginner's Yamaha thirty years ago. This guitar is all the six string acoustic I will ever need.
Sound
The sound is very bright with warm mid tones and good bass. I was looking hard at mahogany Martins, but this Taylor had better range and more sustain. It's great for strumming, but it sounds great for picking and melody. What is nice is how it responds to varied sound levels. It loves to whisper, but it excels when you play it hard.
Features
This is Taylor's entry level premium guitar, so don't expect any bells and whistles. Inlay is at the minimum, but evrything that is there is top quality and perfect. The ebony neck is what wouldn't let me put this thing down, and it stays in tune forever.
Quality
This guitar is like a piece of Stickley furniture. There is little ornamentation, but the quality of the materials and the constuction gives it a beauty no low resolution screen image can capture. Everyone who has seen it is surpised at just how beautiful it is in person.
Value
One can get a Takamine with a cutaway and built-in pickup for less, but it doesn't sound the same, and it won't be a classic thirty years from now.
Manufacturer Support
None needed so far.
The Wow Factor
When in a quiet showroom to sit and play this guitar in comparison to others, its hard to choose another.
