Peerless Taylor Quality
The layered rosewood used in the back and sides of the Taylor 214ce-N is somewhat similar to the sound of the layered sapele that appears in a number of Taylor's other instruments. The surface of the layers completed with an Indian rosewood veneer that imparts the instrument with a beautiful and elegant face. Taylor's layered construction ensures an instrument that is extremely durable and resists the warpage and bowing that can affect instruments made with lower-quality materials. The solid spruce top comes from the same cache of unbeatable tonewoods used on other Taylors.Ready for the Grandest Auditoriums
The body on the Taylor 214ce-N is a full-size Grand Auditorium style -- Taylor's most popular body shape, with the 4.625-inch depth of a Dreadnought and the slightly deeper side curves of a Grand Concert. Combining elements from these two shapes, the Grand Auditorium body proves equally versatile to strumming and fingerpicking styles. It has a warm… read more but unobtrusive low end, balanced perfectly to its clear midrange. The 214ce-N is 16 inches across at its widest point with a 25.5-inch scale neck length. Custom Electronics On Board: Taylor's ES-N Pickup
The ES-N pickup system on this instrument is a totally proprietary Taylor design, with a preamp design and tone controls customized to complement the nylon-string voice. Not to be confused with Taylor's original ES "Expression System" pickup designed with Rupert Neve, the ES-N system found on the 214ce-N is very similar to the ES-T system that appears on select steel-string Taylors. Like these, the ES-N is a single-source, under-saddle transducer. The ES-N control knobs are exactly the same as the ES-Ts, putting highly musical tone-crafting tools under your fingertips. The ES-N is the result of extensive development on Taylor's own behalf, and an audibly successful innovation in acoustic pickup design. I'm primarily a steel string player, an recently decided to branch out. This guitar is excellent for crossing over, and has already become a favorite in my collection. It has great tone, easy to use electronics, and the neck is fantastic. The one down side I've found is there were a few imperfections in the finish, which isn't uncommon for an import model, but for the money I thought they could've done better. But all in all, it plays like a Taylor, so you're getting your money's worth.
Musical Background:
