I was looking to upgrade from a Fender MIM p bass and stumbled across this beauty. I think what initially caught my attention was that for the price (which is lower than the standard MIM p bass) this bass offered a lot of higher end finishes which you couldn't find elsewhere for under $1000.00. Reviews were almost universally positive so I decided to take a chance and order one. I couldn't be happier that I did! First off - this thing is solid - a little heavier than most basses I have played in the past but it's not uncomfortable. The neck is thicker too - I have big hands so no problem there, but something to consider if you've got smaller hands. The bridge is big, thick and is a huge improvement over the usual vintage style bridges Fender uses. The Grover tuners are rock solid and smooth. I prefer the p bass style neck pick up verses the humbucker at the bridge but it is a nice bonus - blending the two together creates some pretty thick tones. I've played both active and passive basses and I will say this - while these pick ups are not active they are plenty powerful! To be honest I have not used the coil tapping feature yet but I am sure it could be useful especially for jazz players. Mine came very nicely set up. Playable right out of the box (after a quick tuning) - the action is low as others have stated but most will set up a new bass anyway so no issue there. All in all for the price it would be very hard to beat the Schecter Diamond - P Custom. If you are looking for read more a versatile bass and like the P Bass style I would highly recommend checking this bass out. It's familiar and you'll be able to dial in a nice variety of tones while getting a ton of bang for your buck!

Sound
Full thick lows, crisp clean highs - the mids are there although you might end up leaning on your preamp to dial in a fuller mid range. For passive pickups these things have got some oomph!

Features
The bridge is awesome as are the Grover tuners. String through body is a nice touch as well. The stock pickups are really nice too!

Ease of Use
As simple as can be. Plug in, turn it up and adjust your tone to taste and you're ready to go.

Quality
I have never bought a bass at this price with quality of this magnitude. I've owned a nice range of American and Mexican made basses and this one is easily up there with the most American made Fenders I have played.

Value
For the $500.00 dollar range this is a LOT of bass. Look around and I think you would be hard pressed to find a bass at this price point with as many higher end features as this one offers.

Manufacturer Support
Haven't had a need to contact Schecter so can't really say much about their support.

The Wow Factor
To be honest I was not completely sure about the dark metallic blue color at first but went for it based on the features and reviews. You know what? This thing is gorgeous! Kinda nice to have it stand out a bit as different too.
