Flagship Sound Engine with Easy User Interface
With Roland's world-leading sound technology at its core, the GW8 rivals any workstation on the planet with its rich, expressive sound. The GW8 comes loaded with hundreds of the freshest and most essential sounds taken from Roland's top workstations. In addition to its authentic sound set, the GW8 is equipped with many user-friendly controls, such as the expressive D BEAM and the Analog Modify knob, which allows instant adjustments of sounds to suit your taste. The GW8 is perfect for live entertainers who play multiple roles in their performances.

Intelligent Backing Styles
The GW8 is packed with a huge collection of styles representing a broad range of music genres, from contemporary rock, pop, dance, jazz and beyond. In addition to the excellent library of contemporary sounds and styles, the GW8 is equipped with ethnic instrument sounds and authentic regional musical styles, with special focus on Latin American genres. Each backing style has four intros, four main patterns, and four ending progressions for you to craft your own arrangements live.

USB Memory Player Feature
One of Roland's most popular new features is built into the GW8: the multi-format Song Player that allows song data to be played directly from USB Flash memory (accepts MP3, .WAV, AIFF and SMF format). In addition, the GW8's Center Cancel function can minimize main vocals from pre-recorded songs, great for karaoke-style performances or music practice.

Style Converter & Playlist Editor
Bundled with each GW8 is Roland's Style Converter software for PC, which lets you create and convert your own MIDI data into GW8 backing styles and install them via commercially available USB Flash memory devices. Also included is the Playlist Editor for customizing the order of songs. Users can easily create a dedicated Playlist for each gig.

"outsanding arranger/synth combination."
Feature:
World and latin styles and voices are great, the most realist brass section I ever heard for a keyboard at this price range. SRX expansion are missing analog controls well structured buttons.

Quality:
Looks well constructed, although it's not stylish, it looks professional

Value:
for this kind of price you won't find anything better

Sound:
High quality fantom x and sonic cell sounds, it has even SRX expansion sounds as well. I can't believe this goes under 1 grand, it has full arranger functions and dedicated buttons, works as a synth as well. Usb player/recorder/sequencer is a great feature

Ease of Use:
It's a roland product, you need to get used to it..

Support:
Haven't needed it yet.

Overall:
Great product with a lot of innovations for a cheap price

"a "consumer arranger keyboard" with pro sounds and features."
Feature:
Again.. this is an arranger, not a synth. The backing styles include up to 8 accompanying instruments, each of which can be adjusted for volume or muted. Variations in intros, mains and fills vary from simple to complex... Sequence is a big improvement over the GW7 (which i have) allowing simple functions and layering of tracks on a mix/replace basis.. MOre than good enough for this type of product.. want a better seqencer..go buy the Juno G.. but this is an arranger.

Desirability:
The silver of the GW7 was nicer looking..

Sound:
The sounds in the GW8 are a subset of the Fantom G.. are vastly superior to its predecessor the GW7.. Compared to other arranger keyboards in this price range this is simply excellent.

Ease of Use:
Relatively simple to get started, though intricacies of partview and sequencing take some time to get used to.. But if you can play, it is relatively easy to start setting up and saving performances.

Overall:
If you have a good ear for quality sounds, and wish to learn or want an arranger this is the most reasonable bang for the buck.. forget com
