The casing is rugged enough to withstand the pressures of the road, and the new black powder-coating on the front grill protects from moisture allowing for comfortable outdoor use. The enclosure's multi-angled design enables the 515XT to switch between floor monitor and main placements, and the integrated M10 suspension points combined with a strong 36mm pole socket make for easy rigging and mounting options. All weighing in at a manageable 32.5 lbs (14.8 kg) with multiple rubber gripped handles, the 515XTs are truly portable making set-up and break-down a breeze.
The Best-Sound EON Yet
Beyond the EON's renowned durability and solid construction, the new 515XT's boast expanded sound enhancements to appease discerning ears and fill booming rooms. With an efficient Crown designed Class D power amp pushing a full 625 watts, the 515XT is loud and banging. The max SPL has been increased to 132 dBs through amplifier optimization and restructured gain stages, and the system has been re-voiced for a more even spectral balance. With its 15" woofer, 1.5" high frequency driver, and an extended 39 Hz-20 kHz frequency range, the 515XT's can add some low-end thump to a DJ set, clarity to vocal reinforcement, with all the balance needed for simple audio playback.
Updated Mixing Features
With all these sound improvements making this the best sounding EON yet, JBL has also raised the bar with an expanded set of on-board mixing features. The 515XT rear mixer offers two 1/4" TRS balanced/unbalanced inputs as well as a combo XLR/1/4" jack each with separate gain control for true on-the-go mixing. With input sensitivity increased by 10dB, the 515XT can easily accept direct inputs from keyboards, media players, and a range of DJ Gear, and the independent treble and bass controls allow even further sonic customization. These ample input options make a single 515XT suitable for application as a stand-alone portable PA; the XLR through output makes it easy to daisy-chain a string of EONs together to fill those bigger venues.
