Ibanez first introduced the Soundgear bass in 1987. That same bass continues to be one of the world's most played basses. Why

Because it's not the same bass. Certainly it's still the sleekest and sexiest. And with all the SR models featuring active electronics, it's still the most tonally versatile. It still has the fastest neck. But Ibanez has continued to improve and update the Soundgear line.

When the Soundgear first came out, a highly compressed sound was popular. Now players demand a heavier sound with a more human touch. To accommodate these changes, Ibanez, changed the Soundgear. And now the range of Soundgears is staggering - everything from elite instruments to the new amazingly low priced GSR models.

SR4 Neck
Only 20.5mm thick at the first fret, the 34" scale SR4STND Soundgear neck is thin, fast and strong. The bolted on All Access neck joint allows the easy access to the upper frets associated with set-in and neck thru joints.

Agathis Body
A relative of mahogany with similar tonal read more characteristics, agathis provides warm lows with strong sustain.

Rosewood Fingerboard
Rosewood offers a strong, bright sound and an attractive appearance with a long grain.

"Great Bargain Fretless"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Not a top end bas but an amazing bargain. When I went to the store, I want looking to buy a fretless, but i fell in love with the tone and the look suited me.
Sound
The tone is amazing for the price. It will work for many styles by varying the tone knobs. Ive been using it with an Ampeg BA110 bass amp and ive been able to get a nice deep tone or basiclaly any one that i want.
Features
No accesories come with it.
Ease of Use
Very easy to personalize the tone. Unless the music store i bought it from had already set it up which i doubt, it really doesnt need much in the way of lowering the action or anything to get good playability.
Quality
Very solid and functionla. The knobs seem to be more trustworthy than most ive seen.
Value
Deffinitely Recommend. Super bass for someone on a bit of a budget.
The Wow Factor
Candy red, curvy body, pretty chrome knobs make it very sleek. I have to say, i would prefer it without the drawn in fret lines, though they are useful for learning to play on a fretless.
