The "modern approach to acoustic guitar tradition" has long been our catchphrase for the Artwood series. Artwood Vintage steps even further back in history and borrows the best features of highly desired vintage instruments.

The Artwood Vintage series now showcases another vintage element by applying an "aging" process to the tonewood --" Termo Aged "tone wood, made by a special drying process at a high temperature which is commonly known as "baking" or "torrefaction". Only choice selected and seasoned tone wood can be cured to Thermo Aged wood. The wood is heated in a vacuum with a specific recipe for each kind of the wood in order to release water and decompose resin contained within the wood. As a result, Thermo Aged tone wood becomes light, hard and stable like tone wood dried for decades, while providing amazing response and a louder sound. The tone character includes a full-bodied low-end and a great smooth sustain in the treble strings which are common features of vintage guitars.

The grand concert body shape of the Ibanez AVM10, along with the Thermo Aged Solid Sitka Spruce top and 25.6" scale delivers a crisp and punchy sound with great definition. Combined with a Thermo Aged solid Mahogany back and Thermo Aged Spruce X top/back bracing, the AVM 10 offers a wide open resonant sound with vivid tone projection. Herringbone purfling on a Natural High Gloss finished body, Ivoroid bindings on body, neck and headstock, specially designed Mother of Pearl fretboard inlay all read more contribute to this vintage feeling instrument. The mahogany soft-V shape neck in satin finish with a cultured maple fretboard provides playing comfort. Grover(R) open gear tuners w/butterbean knobs(18:1 gear ratio) ensure accurate, stable tuning and help reduce the headstock weight, while bringing vintage vibe in its looks. A bone nut and saddle are chosen for its ability to transfer the string vibration naturally. D'Addario(R) Nickel Bronze strings emphasize the natural voice of Thermo Aged wood with incredible clarity, resonance and projection. read less

I've been playing for about 20 years now and have some really nice acoustics, but I wanted to try a "torrefied" model and didn't care to spend loads of money. This Ibanez was the best option with the top and back both being torrefied. So I decided to give it a try and if I didn't care for it, it's not like I'll be heading to the poor house. I get the guitar delivered in two days as zZounds has always done in the past. Excellent service from this company I may add. Anyhow, I opened the box and noticed how well this guitar is put together. I mean it's as nice looking as my Taylor and Breedlove models. It's very light too. It's actually a beautiful guitar with bookmatched top and back. I noticed zero imperfections. I noticed a slight belly at the bottom of the bridge, but didn't think anything of it at first, but as I tuned the guitar to standard tuning the bulge grew to an unacceptable amount. The bulge measured 3/8" on both sides. 3/4" total! This was definitely an issue. I expect some belly on a nicely built solid top, but this was extreme for being new. But the sound was absolutely wonderful. I was totally amazed at what this torrefied model was capable of. My 1978 Guild D50 doesn't sound as good as this Ibanez. Lots of projection. Crystal clear highs, low bass and great mid range. Both strumming and finger picking sounded exception. I was in love with this guitar from the first strum and I contemplated keeping it with the high belly, but decided it's best to return read more for exchange. zZounds customer service was very easy to work with and shipped a new guitar out the next day. Again, two days later I received the guitar. It was just as nice as the first one and sounded just as amazing. An ever so slight belly (expected). The action was a tad bit higher on this one, so I sanded down the saddle about 1/16" and now the action is perfect. Frets are perfect. Neck is straight. I am very pleased with this purchase. I decided to install a LR Baggs M1 and oh what a nice sounding piece this is. Definitely a keeper. I recommend this Ibanez AVM10. It's not a huge investment, but it's a superior looking and playing acoustic that I think anyone would be happy with.
