Don't let the price fool you. This Hofner bass is a joy to play and sounds great. The finish is beautiful. I changed out the black volume control knobs with aftermarket "tea cup" style knobs for about $8.00. I would recommend buying La Bella Deep Talkin' Bass strings. They are flat wound and specifically designed for the Hofner bass short neck. With the correct amp, this bass can sound funky with treble or very deep with good sustain and everything in between. No need to spend thousands on the more expensive Hofners. This is a winner.
