I had played for seven years on a cheap no-name stand that was so cheap that the clutch wasn't even the right size to fit on other stands. I put up with it because I couldn't really afford it. When I saw this stand, it seemed to be everything I wanted. I wanted something light and packable for when I go on gigs (any drummer knows the hell of having to move a dozen heavy stands, my hardware bag is heavy enough to cause serious back problems) but I also wanted something that could hold up to the 2-5 hours a day I spend practicing and the heavy stomping I have to do while playing jazz. This stand does both. It never feels flimsy, but I am always surprised when I pick it up by how light it is. It is miles above the quality of my last stand. This is likely to be the last stand I purchase for several years.

Musical Background:

I am a jazz performance major in college. I have been drumming for 9 years.

Musical Style:

Mostly jazz, but with a decent amount of rock as well.
