Danelectro DJ-16 Bacon and Eggs Mini Guitar Amplifier and Distortion Pedal

No longer available at zZounds
Plug into the Bacon and Eggs and use it as a mini amp, or use it as a distortion stomp pedal. Something this practical is almost never this cheap.

It's an amp! It's a distortion box! It's tiny! It's powerful! It's all of the above! Use it as a mini practice amp, or plug it into your amp for a great distortion. Vegan unit not yet available.

Runs on 9V battery or power supply adapter (not included).

This is one of my favorite ever purchases as a guitar accessory. I have played music for 30 years and have recorded with several bands professionally. This is a cool tool for practice or an intimate, small jam.

Sound
The Danelectro Bacon n' Eggs makes exactly the sound I wanted but didn't completely expect becuase the low price led me to believe it might be substandard. But it is NOT substandard in any manner whatsoever. It sounds AMAZING. Low-cut overdriven blues. It's as raw, raunchy and pure a driven low-cut/hi-pass blues sound as I had hoped. I was looking for a small, intimate practice amp through which I could play slide blues on a Telecaster without bothering others in the house. Bullseye. Surprisingly, this seemingly little speaker can make quite a loud sound.

Features
Simplicity in design. Quarter-inch input and output. Small speaker with a pedal-button. That's it. Adjust tone and volume on your guitar. Thumb screw on the bottom plate for battery replacement. Unit comes with a Danelectro 9v battery which lasted 6 hours. The case is heavy sturdy plastic with a metal bottom plate. A small but weighty and substantial feeling unit.

Ease of Use
Plug in your guitar and adjust your tone and volume on the guitar. Could not be easier or more convenient.

Quality
Heavy thick plastic case with metal late on bottom. Quality. I originally bought this as read more a headphone practice amp but l have discovered that this unit is not exactly cut out for that use; the on-board speaker is not completely silent when I plug a pair of stereo headphones or or a mono guitar cable into the quarter-inch(and only)output. That said, the volume is so substantially reduced that whatever sound is still coming from the speaker is negligible but still there nonetheless. I am blown away by the loud volume of this unit with my Telecaster's passive pickups.

Value
It's hard to believe that such a cool quality and characteristic unit like this Danelectro Bacon n' Eggs is as inexpensive as it is. But it is. This is a rare thing. Great quality for a small price.

Manufacturer Support
My experience with ZZounds was excellent. When I first received my Danelectro Bacon n' Eggs and discovered(as I explained previously)that the sound was not entirely defeated when a plug was inserted into the output jack, I returned it to ZZounds almost immediately. Their system of acquiring a return code and dispatching a UPS shipping label was immediate and efficient. I sent the unit back to ZZounds with the supplied packing slip and two days later had my new unit. It was easy as 1,2,3.

The Wow Factor
The sound this unit makes is utterly characteristic. Raw, old bluesman in a parking lot, on the curb, in New Orleans, on the Delta...in a portable unit.
