With the Casio LK-270 lighted keyboard, learning to play piano is as easy as following the lights.

The Casio LK-270 Personal Keyboard is a great tool for teaching both beginners and more advanced players! The LK-270 includes a Step-teaching function to get great instruction from the very beginning. The Step Lesson's songs are separated into smaller phrases that is easy for anyone to understand and recreate. The keyboard will have you play a phrase of music and when that phrase is mastered you are ready to advance to the next phrase. After completing phrase after phrase you will find that you have learned to play a whole song, one section at a time.

Talk about an effective teacher, the Casio LK-270 has lighted keys that show you where to play next and will also call out the number of what finger needs to play next in a simulated voice.

Illuminated Key Learning System

The 61 illuminated keys of the Casio LK-270 act as your guide to a wide range of songs and support the principal of "Learning by playing". Just like traditional piano lessons, the practice piece is divided into individual bar sections and learnt step-by-step:

- Step 1: Listen - The player listens to the relevant bar section repeatedly to get a feeling for the piece.

- Step 2: See - The player follows the illuminated keys and sees the correct finger movements on the large LC display. The song playback waits until the correct note is played.

- Step 3: Remember - The player plays the bar section from memory. After a while, the illuminated key function is activated if the correct note is not hit.

When the read more "Auto" mode is switched on, a set practice goal must be reached before the next bar section is displayed. With the "Next" mode you can set your own learning speed.

570 AHL Tones

The high-quality 570 AHL tones create clear and dynamic sounds, which unfold in all sounds and rhythms found in classical piano pieces, as well as many other genres.

48-Note Polyphony

Sound diversity at its best: the Casio LK-270 can play up to 48 voices at the same time, turning interpretation of a wide range of musical pieces into a pure pleasure.

180 Rhythms

180 rhythms built into the Casio LK-270 provide you with a colourful overview of the world of music.

Sampling Function

A feature with fun factor: the simple sampling of sounds via an external sound source such as MP3 and CD players (via Audio-in) or microphone (via Mic-in) offers interesting effects and amusing compositions. Whether a bar of your favourite musical piece, loops or drum sounds, human voices or noises of any kind -- the recorded samples (up to 10 seconds) can be played via the Casio LK-270 and effects added as desired.

Arpeggiator

With the arpeggiator, a chord played on the Casio LK-270 is divided into a sequence of individual notes repeated in succession. Perfect for all dance or electro styles!

Music Preset

The "Music Preset Library" in the Casio LK-270 contains 305 "one touch settings" based on popular rock and pop songs. The useful pre-settings for rhythm, tone, tempo, effects etc. makes time-consuming searches for the right settings a thing of the past. This assistant makes playing the "top 300" child's play!

Rhythm Editor

Pop rhythm with a touch of jazz, jazz rhythm with a shot of pop: with the rhythm editor, elements from different rhythms can be combined and edited on the LK-270. 10 user slots are available for individual style editing.

The Casio Music Challenge

This practice is fun and exercises your mind too: the Casio LK-270 Music Challenge is a play function where the player has to hit the illuminated keys as fast as possible.

Scale Tuning
The scale tuning functions open up a whole world of oriental quarter tones and the tempering of baroque or classical music.

SD Compatible
The innovative SD memory medium offers a simple means of expanding the internal song memory of the Casio LK-270 to limitless levels.

USB Plug & Play/Song Expansion
The USB/MIDI (GM) connection enables further Midfile songs to be loaded into the LK-270's internal memory via the "Song expansion". No software installation from a CD-ROM required thanks to Plug & Play and the USB driver is compatible with both Mac and Windows (from Mac OSX 10.03 and Windows XP/Vista).

Casio LK-270 Audio input
Play or sing along -- a solution for the future: connect a CD or MP3 player to the Audio input of your Casio LK-270. Your favourite tunes are played via the loudspeakers of the keyboard in "half playback" -- you can play along for the keyboard part. A good alternative to MIDI playback, particularly if you don't want to edit the song.

Microphone input (Mic-in)
Simply plug in and get singing: The Casio LK-270 has a practical microphone input facility that allows users to sing along to a selection of songs or make recordings using the sampling function. The microphone is included with the keyboard.

Headphone connection
Peaceful enjoyment: the Casio LK-270 comes equipped with a headphone connection.

Loudspeaker system
The system featuring two loudspeakers and a power of two times 2.5 Watts produces an impressive and balanced sound.

"UPDATE ON MY MAY 22, 2009 REVIEW OF THE CASIO LK-27"

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I have owned the LK-800 for just over 8 months and have actively been testing/searching for an 88 key DP. I have out grown this keyboard musically. BUT as I stated before; it is a very good one for children to start lessons on. I am giving mine to one of my grand children, who spends hours on it when she comes over. With the lighted key feature she has taught herself several pieces and this is a child who does not take music lessons. The lighted keys and the music challenge function have helped her learn to sight read notes. I have just bought the Casio Privia PX-800. So far all I can say is WOW! I will be reviewing it shortly
Manufacturer Support
I am up grading my support score due to several recent telephone conversations I have had with Casio support in my area (Canada). I had several questions about a DP model I was thinking of up grading to and the Casio tech people were more than willing to help me. BUT, the Casio web "support"? leaves alot to be desired. I've sent 2 e-mails over the past month, with no reply's to date.
