Behringer GMX212 V-Tone Combo Amp

The V-Tone GMX212 may look like a single guitar amp, but by flicking a few switches, it actually gives you access to a multitude of totally different amp voicings. You also get 99 effects presets in stunning 24-bit stereo sound. Plug in to the Behringer GMX212 and let your tone odessey begin.

A Virtual Roomful of Gear

The 2 x 60-Watt GMX212 is the perfect amp for the guitarist in need of a wide variety of tone. Take your pick of three amp voicings: Tweed gives you the soulful, bluesy sound of vintage 50s amps; British gives you the hard-rocking sound of the 1960s British Invasion; CALIF gives you the sparkling clean tones of the American West Coast's most famous amps. Combine any of these modes with three speaker voicings: UK simulates 4x12" speakers in an enclosed cabinet; US simulates 2x12" speakers in an open-back casing: Flat is a special setting designed especially for the Behringer GMX212's 2 12" Bugera speakers.

Select from Clean, Hi Gain or Hot gain settings to go from clean to heavy overdrive, then apply one of 99 digital effect presets for a sound that's uniquely yours. The GMX212 even has an onboard tuner! Meanwhile, the patented Dynamizer circuitry captures every nuance of your playing, lending warm tube-like compression to your tone.

Channel Your Tone

Its tonal options may be vast and sophisticated, but at its core the Behringer GMX212 handles just like a classic guitar amp. Plug into the 1/4-inch input jack and then take your pick of two channels, each with Gain, Level, and three-band EQ. You can use the GMX212's included footswitch to toggle remotely between the two channels -- go from clean and reverb-drenched to distorted and delayed at the touch of a button. Put the finishing touches on your sound with the GMX212's Presence and Master dials.

Back Panel Discussion

Behringer has given the GMX212 an extensive back panel for even more sound routing options. There you will find a loudspeaker output for connecting an additional speaker cabinet, a headphone output with speaker simulation, an adjustable Aux In for devices like drum machines, and an RCA Input allowing you to play along with a CD player. The GMX212 has stereo RCA and line outputs with speaker simulation for direct recording. An additional 1/4-inch jack connects to external effects devices. Plug a MIDI controller such as the Behringer FCB1010 into the Behringer GMX212's MIDI In for even further remote control over the onboard effects.

Sound That Astounds

The Behringer GMX212 provides an incredible tonal palette at a fraction of the cost of collecting vintage amps and effects. Complement your creativity with the sounds that made the electric guitar the renowned instrument it is today.

I think this product will last for a long time, and accommodate me in my high school's (reputable) jazz band, as well as in my blues band, and and other jamming or music making sessions of any kind. Compared to the other amps i played, this one runs with the leaders of the pack, side to side with Leo Fender and all his marvels. It gives you more sound, more options, and a better deal than all the alternatives. If you have a low budget, or if you're looking for a versatile amp that can take a beating and some serious playing, this is the product for you.

Sound
I have the slightly smaller (2x30w) version of this amp, but the tone and controls are exactly the same. The amp I had prior to this one was a Fender Champion, and i was looking for something equal in tone, but louder and fuller, and the Behringer delivered. The modeling settings are easy to use, and the clean settings are clear and undistorted, even at high volume. Also, my dad doesn't like me to blast my music, and it sounds great with the volume turned donwn, too. The only downside is that the "tweed" amp setting is a bit quiet, but it does well in low gain distortion.

Features
It comes with a stock footswitch, which doubles as the switch for the tuner. The tuner is easy to use, and saves a lot of time, since you don't have to deal with carrying a tuner around with you. I like the knobs and grille as well, and i say this having been a Fender fanatic for quite read more some time.

Ease of Use
All the controls are extremely easy to use, and it took me no time at all to get used to it. It was very easy for me to find tones that i like in all of the amp settings (tweed, british, and california). The manual is clear and easy to read, and it also comes in several languages.

Quality
The amp is well built, and the tone coming from the Jensen speakers is unmistakeable. However, i discovered that the main input comes out when planed pressure is applied to it....by stepping on a cable by accident, but that problem is easily avoided by keeping cables out of the way. I will say, though, that the same incident happened on my Fender amp, and nothing budged.

Value
You get way more than you pay for with this amp, and this price is great, especially considering that most amps in its size and class are upwards of $700.

Manufacturer Support
I have not yet needed to contact them, and i don't think i will, but they have ample support networks in the U.S. and Europe.

The Wow Factor
It's a great amp, and it's extremely versatile, whether you play rock, blues, punk, funk, goth, metal, death, or even backup in a rap group. It's engineered well, and looks great. It's definitely a good investment.

Musical Background:
I've been playing guitar for four years and trumpet for three, and i also actively write and record my own music.

Musical Style:
blues, rock, jazz, hard rock, and blues rock.
