Need to add more low-end punch to your small, portable PA system? Behringer's compact, 12" B1200D-PRO powered subwoofer pumps out 500 watts of powerful bass.

The Behringer EUROLIVE B1200D packs everything there is to love about these powerful systems into a more compact, easy to transport enclosure, making them ideal for small- to mid-sized venues. Armed with a 500-Watt Class-D amplifier and a host of truly professional features, these little brutes crank out tons of tight, low-end punch with the definition and clarity typically reserved for much larger systems. Put simply, these cool-running systems provide an impressive power-to-weight ratio and their no-compromise design means you get amazingly deep, chest-pounding bass that will keep the party going all night long.

Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class AB circuits, Class-D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only when needed. The amplifier is either fully on or fully off, which significantly reduces power losses from the output devices given off as heat. Less heat means Class-D amps don't need massive heat sinks, and that means Behringer can make them lighter. Plus B1200D's amplifier provides all the dynamic punch and fidelity you'd expect from a much larger, more expensive subwoofer.

Custom-Designed Transducers

The transducers (woofers and tweeters) are the only part of a sound system you actually hear, so Behringer never cuts corners, and never just grabs whatever happens to be on the shelf. Behringer custom-designs their own so they are the perfect match for both the amplifier and the application. They wind their own read more voice coils, process the paper pulp into cones and even machine their own back plates. This enables full control of the quality, and frankly, makes better components. The 12" long-excursion, low-frequency transducer was designed specifically for use in the EUROLIVE B1200D.

Take Control

The B1200D features balanced XLR inputs and outputs, as well as balanced XLR Thru jacks for connecting additional enclosures. A Boost Frequency knob lets you boost any frequency between 45 Hz and 90 Hz. Then just flick the Boost switch to give your selected frequency a +10 dB boost. They've also provided a High Cut dial that controls the upper-corner frequency for the internal amplifier without affecting Thru A/B signals. A Level knob controls the input gain, and the Phase switch reverses the output phase to compensate for frequency cancellation between the subwoofer and satellite speakers. LEDs show operational status at a glance including power, signal present and input overloads. Value Plenty of power, light weight, amazing sound, rugged durability and affordability?you get it all with the EUROLIVE B1200D.

Finally, there's an affordable powered subwoofer bin that's small and light enough to put in the trunk of car. It is also the solution for those small to midsize gigs like receptions up to 200 people. I like to use my EV ELX112's or PRX710's and hide one of these subs under the table to keep people guessing where all that bass is coming from. I'm looking forward to purchasing another one and put it side-by-side or stacked for increased bass while still using my mid-size car instead of the truck or trailer to go gigging.

Sound
The sound quality is impressive when in close proximity to the enclosure up to about 60 feet where the bass that used to be there starts to drop dramatically. Of course, it doesn't move air and feel the bass like I get from my EV ELX118's, et.al. but one does hear a lot of extra bass.

Features
If you don't process your speakers (EQ, BBE, etc.) then there's still enough features to contour your music to your liking.

Ease of Use
Ease of use should be a no-brainer once you become experienced and refined enough of a DJ or musician to know the benefits of adding a bass enclosure.

Quality
I really appreciate the look and feel of this cabinet. It feels solid, looks like it could be heavy, but it's not.

Value
It's a really good value and anyone should be able to purchase one with a high level of confidence. My read more only reservation is that the EV ZXA-1 12" sub is rated about 3 dB louder and I like my bass. However, at $200 less than the EV 12, the Behringer just barely edges out the EV which I probably would've purchased had they been $100 less.

Manufacturer Support
Have not had to deal with the company. This, after purchasing my first Behringer about 20 years ago.

The Wow Factor
Taking into consideration the size, cost, weight, the fact that it's only one 12" woofer, and bass response. The WOW Factor is really good.
