The Vintage 204 basses both have a classic design, with bolt-on necks a 34 inch scale, an alder body, and 21 XJ frets. this is the first ESP I've owned.I've got a 70 J-bass I was looking to retire from certain situations, wanted a knock-around I didn't have to worry about that didn't cost too much. Was pretty much settled on one of the squires when I came across the 204.Diggin on it,just feels good to play, seriously thinking about adding the sunburst.

Sound
unless you just have to have a certain brand of pick-ups or feel the need to spend extra, don't.The stock pick ups have a warm, full sound, quite punchy, similar to Bartolinis.Assuming they are single coil I haven't had any hum problem yet, even in a club with bad electricity

Features
it is a simple, honest bass;it is what it is.It has the look and field of a P-bass been around the block a few times. It's like an old pair of jeans,comfortable,fun/easy to play.

Ease of Use
this bass really feels good.Any die hard P-bassers needing a 2nd bass, back up or like me a throw around bass should give this guy a look,it plays/sounds well and makes a 3,4,5 hour night go by easier.

Quality
with most less expensive basses issues are with neck or pickups.Pick-ups sound great,no buzz/hum yet.Neck was fine, minor adjustments.Haven't messed with the neck too much, will eventually go to a lighter gauge strings.

Value
buy one in each color.Nothing fancy here;comfortable, plays good, sounds good, what else do you need. read more

Manufacturer Support
no need yet.

The Wow Factor
looks and feels like an old beat up P-bass.I got the black. The only the only thing the road wear guys missed, the smoke stained off white pick guard.
