"it does its job, exactly how it should. appla"

Feature:
Perfect for converting audio from your analogue mixer to be recorded on pc or mac. completely adequate for any 8bus mixer. capable of connecting a total of 4 Delta1010s providing you have the pci slots available. M-audio totally scrapped the use of ADAT and mic-pre's bringing the price right down, effectively making it the one of the best products yet cheapest parts of any studio, and thats a good thing! there are no excuses for not using a proper preamp

Quality:
light but rigid construction, once its rigged you wont ever need to touch it. However, due to how m-audio used a unique adapter with an external transformer to avoid heat problems + electromagnetic noise, the cable is not very durable and got damaged after a year. i called m-audio, they directed me to their retailers. I had to wait ages for it to be replaced, i was more than ready to just but another 1010. my advice is, avoid having to rewire a studio over and over and you be fine. would rather they had figured out using a kettle lead instead. thank god the problem wasnt the unit. if you ever have this problem make sure you bargain hunt through their retailers. prices are totally different from company to company.

Value:
for a developing analogue based studio this product is great and definatelly value for money. start of with max 8 tracks, then if u feel the need for 16, buy another, and another and your at 24. its probably more hassle thinking about buying more cables. if you can afford it you can just buy a 24 I/O. but under a tight yearly budget this product was great.

Desirability:
more like, "i want another one" i hooked this up to a mackie 248bus for a college, then realised its expansive capabilities of up to 4 delta1010. i actually want to get another 3 for the college and have 24 tracks connected direct, as well as the last interfaced wired into the 8 bus. i still love the fact that u can configure everything within the software.

Sound:
as clear as an audio interface needs to be, and fully customizable settings from with software interface

Ease of Use:
1 - installing hardware (if you know what your doing)easy 2 - check M-audio software (not that you need to, but again if u know what your doing) easy 3 - check and set I/O defaults on your PC/Mac based sequencer (you'll know how to, if you've got this far) 4 - done, easy - powers on with your computer - interface is easy, everything controlled via software - once hardwired you wont touch it, so u get longer cables and have it rigged out of reach if you must

Support:
ordering a new powersupply took ages due to a lack of stock, if u ever need to, do some bargain hunting for it too, they can be expensive.

Overall:
it serves its perpose and that wont change in the analogue mixer environment situation. what you see is what you get, and with a expansive capabilties it does more. if you choose to go adat, you might as well have a full digital mixer like the mackie d8b and theres loads to choose from. but until then, i cant see myself wanting any other mixer or audio interface it does its job, exactly how it should nothing else!

Feature:
no mic pre. no headphone. cumbersome pci/25pin scsi connection. just 8 ins, 8 outs, 1 midi i/o. kinda lame if you ask me after being forced to convert from the digi 001.

Quality:
solid metal construction...i could probably lob the unit across the room and it would be fine. but the quality of the engineering itself on a more minute level is fairly cheap. after returning the unit one time for logic board failure i failed to see the point of being raped of another $150 when the unit tanked again [this evening] and decided to open it up myself. bulging capacitors and what appear to be cold solder joints--no wonder the reasoning behind opening the box will void the warranty.

Value:
by comparison, i suppose it would be worthwhile. at this point they would need to pay me use one, though.

Sound:
The converters in these boxes sound great when they are not spewing distortion and noise in place of what should be your music. Every 10-20 MINUTES(!!!!!!!!!) of operation under less than demanding conditions produced clicks pops and crackles which would become constant, loud distortion eventually taking the place of the music itself. I'm running a G4 dual 1.25Ghz and ProTools Mpowered [Lame, but cheaper than the mbox2 pro].

Ease of Use:
the interface is easy. plug goes into hole.

Support:
The half-wits over at M-Audio could not pinpoint the cause of the distortion problem that i believe was the death of the unit in the end; regurgitating amateur support techniques like "repair drive permissions" or "move the pci card to a different spot."

From Our Catalog
The Delta 1010 stands at the forefront of digital audio's evolution, making available a level of performance previously unattainable. Unrivaled in its integrity, the Delta 1010 shores up what used to be the Achilles' heel of any computer-based system: the transfer and conversion of audio between the outside world and the computer. With 24-bit 96kHz bandwidth and expansive flexibility, the Delta 1010 boasts 8 balanced or unbalanced analog I/Os, S/PDIF I/O, Word Clock I/O, and MIDI I/O to guarantee connectivity in any installation. To ensure that your audio is not compromised by your computer's internal noise, the Delta 1010's converters reside in a rock-solid, external, rack-mountable chassis. The power transformer is even located outside of the chassis to further secure the absolute transparency of your audio.
