"Yamaha MX49 - Great keys when you need the space"

I am impressed by the sound of this thing. The ease of use to switch octaves, layer and split is outstanding. We play clubs with absolutely no room on stage, so I stack a couple of 49-key-keyboards on a stand and that works out fine. When I have the room, I still use this thing with a full controller. Pros: * It's light weight * Great selection of sounds * Easy switching octaves, keys, splits and stacking 2 sounds together. * Price is always a good thing, this was reasonable. Cons: * Outside of just 49 keys, I'm pretty happy with it: and it's not always a bad thing to have less keys when you need the room. * Sounds are grouped under buttons, but then to get to the individual sounds you have to use the twirly nob, which makes selecting voices not as quick as I'd like in a live situation. I have a work-around, though, which involved a patch switcher I wrote on my PC and use in my setup. All-in-All: It's an A+ for value. r

Super light weight and chocked full of sounds!! Use your favorite 76 or 88 key controller to throw down fat sounds from this little powerhouse! This has an awesome bank of DX sounds (Yamaha of course)! Also, guitars are awesome! Rock guitars with the proper amount of crunch and feedback are on point! Being in an 80's cover band, these sounds are essential. The key construction feels a little toyish but what do you expect. I use this in a band with a larger weighted key controller and couldn't be happier!

This keyboard is simply amazing. I bought it on a recommendation of a colleague of mine and he was right about everything. I am a bass player and needed a small light weight keyboard to run key bass on and wow !!!! Is all I have to say. The sounds of beefy and I can really dial in the frequencies that I want. 100 Thumbs Up Yamaha !!! I play your bass product and now your keyboards. Great job !!!

I love the Motif but it is out of my price range. When I saw MX series I searched youtube for demos, searched for reviews and liked what I saw & read. I then purchased the MX49 from zZounds because of past experience with them. This Synthesizer is everything I expected and more! There is a lot to learn with this and discovery is something I embrace. I have a very high end DAW and was not too thrilled to install Cubas. After making a complete backup of my computer, I installed the software, Purchased the Vycro MX Pro Editor, and upgraded Cubase LE to version 7. It appears to me that I need this to use the tone generator of the MX49 (as a DAW controller); two steps needed ( in Cubase) to use the MX voices in my favorite favorite DAW. After the Holidays, I plan to spend 'mega time' learning and using this tool. You can check out my music at www.joeleale.com

best sounding cheap synth outthere period. and theres ways to edit and alter sounds while playing that makes it much more flexible than others of its class... but the construction and materials are just cheap but so are all the other keyboards nowdays even more expensive ones like the Nord... china quality with amazing sounds tho

The first one I got was dead on arrival , like no power whatsoever but zzounds was very fast attentive in replacing it immediately with a new one, when I finally got it, the actual synth looked very cheap in quality, but that is the standard nowdays I guess since even the Nord looks cheap for its price, but the sounds are just amazing, very professional sounding and with very accesible controls to edit on the fly even while playing... I tried many different ones in its price range and defenetely its the best sounding low budget keyboard outhtere even comparable with more expensive ones when it comes to sound quality... the Qbase program and the editor suck.. so dont even install it.. ...
