I just bought this unit about a month and a half ago. It's by far the easiest portable digital recorder to operate available. No track assign hassles. Being an analolg board over a digital recorder is indeed the best of both worlds. Love the pre amps in this board.I've not tried to bounce tracks yet but don't foresee any difficulty in doing so. I'll update this review once I've bounce a few around. The $1000 for the recorder and the gig bag purchased for it were well worth the investment. I'd gladly do it again.

Bought this Model 24 to live record our band..We set up a Track/file,record,then instantly listen back to tweak and re record if needed. Also, files are recorded to SD card for dropping into pc later and ;"Magic"....easy editing and mixing..Mic Pre's instantly sounded clearer with more headroom than our existing board.Easy to navigate with minor skills.Tascams track set up and naming is a bit cloggy but fine after a few times. This is a perfect mix of Analog and Digital without the touch screen and menu blues..Also works as an amazing audio interface between mac or pc..Well worth the price! Would highly recommend this board to Amateurs and Pro's!!!

"Good, almost great."

The unit is surprisingly large. Knobs and buttons feel typical for modern mixers, a little cheap, but functional. The unit looks great, connects to a Mac with out issue, but needs drivers for PCs. USB audio function works well, and it's great to mix with a board. EQ section is limited but musical. The one knob compressors are serviceable and the preamps seem quiet although I only have used the Line and Instrument inputs. Compressors don't work on USB returns. FX section is not great but usable. Overall a good value for the money.
