"You have to buy this card separately, if you want to use your MX2424"

It's just an interface card, not too surprising no one else took the time to review it. Yes, I'd replace it, because the recorder won't do what I need it to do without it. Pretty unlikely it would be stolen, unless the whole recorder was stolen.
Sound
It has no sound, it simply is a TDIF interface to the MX2424.
Features
It does what it does. If you need TDIF input into an MX2424, you need to buy this.
Quality
The MX2424 and all it's optional components are built very sturdily.
Value
Dang, this I/O card is awfully expensive for the few chips on it. Might have something to do with you have to have it and only Tascam makes it.
Manufacturer Support
Tascam has excellent customer support, used it on many occasions, though not for this simple device. Tascam goes the extra mile.
The Wow Factor
Well, it has no "sex appeal," you can't even see it, it installs inside the recorder. If you need to connect to TDIF devices, you need this card, it's as simple as that.
Musical Style:
Funk, Pop, Rock
