In an effort to save my back and consolidate the amount of gear I take to live gigs, I've gone back to using a headset mic instead of a mic on a stand. My trusty SM58 took care of me for years, but it's time for a change. The last time I used a headset mic, it was a crummy AKG that was difficult to maintain in position, weighed too much, and sounded like butt. So I had a bit of trepidation when I ordered this mic, even though the reviews I'd read were mostly favorable. Thankfully, the WH20 is a quality item, even though it's on a lower tier than, say, the Beta53. The mic is crisp and clean, and does an excellent job of picking up every nuance of my vocal. To the dismay of the rest of the band. This mic is light, sounds really good, and is comfortable enough to wear for hours at a time. One thing you're gonna want to keep in mind if you go the headset route is that a headset will pick up EVERYTHING. Every sniffle, cough, grunt and squawk. i ended up getting a Rolls mic switch to kill the signal when I'm not singing. Will probably replace that with a Panic Button so I can have a direct line to my tech or monitor engineer. My only issue with the mic is the gooseneck. It's a bit on the flimsy side, and could use a little beefing up. But all in all, this mic is a good quality, affordable entry into the world of headset mics. Recommended.

I bought this microphone to wear and sing into while I play guitar at my church. The mic seems to have good sound, with several people telling me they can't tell the difference between this and the higher end Sennheiser hand helds. What I didn't think about was with a headset mic, what do you do to cough? So I had to get a Rolls MicMute foot switch to use as a "cough button" or to otherwise silence the microphone. I have been quite pleased with the performance of the unit, but have found wearing it with my eyeglasses a bit clunky (I am always having to push my glasses back up on my nose) and would like to see a bigger "clothes clip" so I could attach the XLR connector to my belt. This is my first headset microphone so I don't have anything to compare it to, but would have no objection to having another just like it in the future.

I've been using this mic for narrated tours in Newport, RI for about 3 weeks now and so far so good. The voice pick-up (volume) is about 20% less than my SM-58 hand-held mic, but I need hands-free for driving.The wire from the 1/4" jack to the headband seems a little flimsy, but is not yet cutting out. I'll keep you posted as the unit gets older and let you know how long the wire lasts before it starts to cut-out or short-out.

Fine quality headset microphone. I removed it from the wire head band thing, and attached it to a set of headphones, and converted the cans into a headset/mic combination for my ham radio. Same cartridge as the Shure SM-2 and SM-10 and M0del 512. Sounds great. Just the right amount of pickup volume, fairly noise rejecting. Good value even if you keep it on the original wire headband. I own all the microphones mentioned in this review-good all around mic cartridge. Just MY take.
