I'll definitely hang onto this one for its slap tone, playability, sustain, and looks.
Sound
Excellent and versatile tone. Low-E string seems a bit loose. Amazing sustain. Excellent choice for slap.
Features
Doesn't appear to have an active/passive switch. Excellent workmanship and materials. I'm a little disappointed that the hardware was not a gold or brass finish with the flame maple finish.
Quality
Extremely well made. I've had a few bumps so far, and am amazed how much effort it takes to put a blemish on the finish.
Value
A bargain. I can't imagine getting more for my money.
Manufacturer Support
Sporadic accessibility, but friendly and helpful. Need either a separate manual or inclusion of specific references/figures for the California Custom bass within the manual.
The Wow Factor
A beautiful flame maple finish. Only thing missing is the gold or brass finish on the hardware (including hipshot bridge) for the perfect look.
