I received this Bass today by FEDEx; let me first say i was expecting to see a guitar with some ugly scratches on it since I got it blemished. So I was prepared for this. When I took it out of the gig bag. It had lots of finger prints on it, but no scratches at all. I looked hard to find a dent or something. But no luck! the only thing I could find to complain about was the bridge setting was out of wack. After I polished her up with some Formula 65,and adjusted the bridge. This Bass is utterly Beautiful... I couldn't put it down all day. The sound was amazing (I chanded the strings to some DR Pure Blues). The harmonics are better than on my Fender deluxe active, which has great harmonics. If you are looking for a Music Man Bass but don't have that much money to spend on one. Please GET THIS BASS ASAP!!!! You will not be disappointed at all.. It sounds like a Music Man, It looks like a Music Man. And if you get one get the QM version, it's visually Stunning. The pics do it no justice. It's Gorgeous

This is my 3rd Music Man Sterling bass that I have owned. The first 2 were in the lower price range but I was still extremely happy with them. I bought the Ray34QM as I was looking for a bass with a wide tonal range to support the large variety of music my current project covers (the beautiful Neptune Blue Burst finish was an added incentive...gorgeous bass!). The bass arrived well packed and protected with a decent quality gig bag. It was well set up out of the case, I will let it adjust for a few weeks and then run a full set up on it again. I gave the bass a good look over and was extremely impressed with the fit and finish of the bass, very well put together, the neck was well set with no gaps, the hardware was solid and the finish was flawless. An added bonus to me was the maple neck, darker maple with a nice vintage look to it. Fretwork was well done and smooth. Not a big fan of the Ernie Ball strings, I am a D'Addario guy but that is a personal choice. It sits very comfortably with a strap with good balance, no neck dive. When I plugged it in and tuned it up I ran it through my Tech 21 GED-2112 Sansamp and was blown away by the sound of this bass. I started with all controls maxed (4 knob active with Master Volume, Treble, Mid and Bass). Running full out it had a very nice round bottom end coupled with a very tight high end twang. I rolled off the treble, set the mid about 3/4 and left the bass full on and this thing SINGS!! The controls are very sensitive and minor changes to the knob settings changed the sound easily and I was able to get sounds that range from a vintage motown thump to an almost Ric sounding high end. Took it to practice last night and the rest of the band was blown away by the sound and looks of this bass. I anticipate this one to be a major player in my herd of basses.

Well after having bought a Ray24 I was impressed with the quality and features, so I thought about buying another SBMM. I decided to go with the Ray34QM. What a gorgeous bass! As another reviewer stated the pictures don't do it justice. The feel and the finish are unbelievable. The setup was near perfect for me I just had to raise the E string a little bit. The neck is comfortable to play, smooth as butter not chunky at all. Powerful humbucker and can be tamed as needed. I can get a wide variety tones from punchy to mellow. Making it quite versatile. Overall excellent bass, my only gripe is that the pickup wasn't grounded so anytime I would touch the pole pieces there would be buzzing. I tend to play right over the pickup so this was a minor issue for me. Anyway I took care of the issue myself. Sterling By Music Man offers alot of bang for your buck. I love this bass and it is worth every penny. I highly recommend.

"Great Buy"

Great Bass and price is a bonus. Came set-up in playable condition. The QM Neptune Blue is pleasing to look at. Good build quality and excellent playability. Also many websites have this Bass neck specs at 12" Radius and 43mm nut width this is incorrect, it has a 9 1/2" Radius and 38mm nut width similar to Jazz neck. The QM series is the only SBMM Bass with smaller neck others are 43mm. Gave it a 4 Stars overall based on Weight it is fairly Heavy.

Let me begin by saying thanks to zz's fast delivery and it's conveinent play as you pay system help me out a lot. The sterling ray34 was delivered with D and G string buzz. I've been playing bass for quite a while now, professionally 25 yrs. I thought the ray34 would come set up and ready to play but it didn't. I tweek the truss and made string height adjustments and boom the bass was ready to play.Man... I've always wanted a musicman bass to add to my collection. I can't put this bass down it sounds sooooo good.A word to the wise. Check your bass throughly when you get. After making the adjustments i couldn't be happier with this bass. active 3 band EQ is whats up! Buy this bass you won't be disappointed. This bass sounds just as good as the vintage musicman. Peace!

This is the bass to buy, when I opened the box the bass was ready to go. As stated above I can't play this bass enough. I have several basses, but this one has the active three band EQ that set it apart from my other basses. It has that vintage twang to it with the deep bottom most bass players are looking for. Dudes buy this bass!
