So I have the Roland DJ-505. I’ve used the DJ-202 and the DJ-808. This is why the DJ-505 is the best device for the money. The 202 doesn’t have a sequencer like the other two and to access and change the effect on the fly, you have to use the mouse on your laptop to go into the menu to make your changes then come back out to use them. The 505 has external analog nobs and buttons to access, change and activate right there on the controller. Same goes for the 808 with even more buttons. Becoming the best DJ possible is the goal but what’s the next step for a dJ to grow into something bigger and better than basic? It starts with the remix/refix and then moves into production and arrangement. The sequencer or beat machine at the top of the 505 allows you to generate beats and sync them to tracks loaded and playing on either of the Serato decks and remix live on the fly or record internally in Serato and play later. Add the specialized sampler that allows you to record and loop samples played on the sample pads. It’s hard to explain what I’m trying to say but it’s similar to watching Kanye West playing music on a sampler with pads and the DJ-505 remembers what you did and loops it back for you. It’s simply amazing. I also own the Rane 72 mixer and the sampling feature of the DJ 505 (rec TRS) is not an option. This is the fastest way to start sampling and making beats for upcoming producers. Even if you’re not a dJ but want to make music, this is your music box
