I received this amp last week and I simply cannot stop playing it. I have several amps and they all rock, but none of them are exactly "metal" amps. I have to do some voodoo with OD pedals and such to get a decent metal tone, but not this amp. Straight out of the box I was able to dial in a FANTASTIC metal tone. The tone shape toggle is very useful and if that doesn't get you the tonal variety you're after. then just throw an EQ in the loop and tweak away. I dig this amp completely and I think it's perfect for home playing/practice/recording. I am seriously considering looking at the higher wattage offerings in this line. And to top it all off, its CHEAP!!!

This amp isnt super loud (5watts) but that not why you are looking at a 5 watt head. It is louder than i thought it would be and paired with the right cabinet could be quite satisfying. The distortion is really good for 80's style metal/thrash. You can get a Slayer type of sound ala south of heaven. You will need to buy an overdrive pedal if you want Pantera style distortion. But not a big deal. The direct out is great for recording. The tone shifter toggle is great for different tones and distortion styles. The cleans aren anything special; but thats for a different style of amp. If you want a no frills high gain amp for recording or jamming at bedroom levels with high gain, get this amp.

Only got the little thing about a week ago, but have really put it through the paces. If you're looking for an amp with big cleans, this ain't your bag. That said, I don't know who would buy this for that use anyway. But I got mine with the 112 v-30 cab and this thing sounds huge! For anything from a heavy, driven blues to a really pure tube, screaming monster. Makes me play with an amp more at home (very important). First tube amp I've seen you can practice with, at reasonable volume, and still have tone to spare. Great little amp.

Bought this b-stock from zzounds on reverb website.I loved this amp. I have others, but for natural distortion / usable gain this keeps the others at the sideline for now. I will be purchasing a bigger brother in the same line of amps. Decided to place a minimal boost and have mercy some sickest high gain sounds available.
