"Yes, it works just fine with a bass."

Sound
You won't play to a crowd with this amp, but for an amp roughly the size of a large Kleenex box, it's got great sound. I use it with my electric bass and it does fine. It's not going to rattle the windows, but you can sure sit around and jam with it. One reviewer complained that he couldn't get it to distort. This is a complaint? He must be fourteen. I'm very pleased!
Features
The amp has an adapter that lets you use a standard electrical outlet so you can save your batteries when you have electricity available.
Quality
It's a super portable amp. It's made for traveling, not looks. Nevertheless, it's ...well, cute!
Value
I can't compare it to other similar items, as it is the only super-small, lightweight, battery operated amplifier I own, but I love this thing.
The Wow Factor
It's practical. And cute.

"Just buy it!"

I am going to keep this guy for a long time, I don't even touch my larger amps for practicing anymore.
Sound
Very nice sound considering it is a $75 battery powered unit. Low volumes give you a cleaner sound and higher volumes break up into a classic rock type of overdrive. It also responds to your volume knob on the guitar very well, back off the volume knob to clean up the sound. It kind of makes you feel like you are using a tiny little tube amp.
Features
Plug into it and turn it on, pick it up and go someplace else. That is the features you pay for and that is what you get.
Ease of Use
Insert Batteries. Plug in. Turn On. Rock.
Quality
Very sturdy feeling. Metal covers on all corners. A sturdy latch. I had to mess with the batteries a bit the first time i used it to get it to work, I don't think one of the batteries was making contact, but after I got it right I have not had any problems.
Value
A fun practice amp for a low low price. You can take it anywhere, you can strap it on your shoulder. A very fun toy for any guitar player.

The Wow Factor
It has a cool "retro" look with the brown covering, neat pignose knob and logo on the front. It sparks the interest of anybody that sees it. It will have special appeal if you are a fan of the Ralph Machio movie Crossroads.

"If you could only have one amp"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Great sound and power for so small a unit. Good fuzz when cranked with my telecaster turned up and tone kicked in. Love it!!!
Features
Only complaint is that you only have a volume control. That also means less to go wrong, as this amp has outlived all the rest of my amps with no repair done to it.
Manufacturer Support
My pignose is 15 years old and still sounds like new

"CLASSIC PIG MY GIRLFRIEND LOVES IT MORE THAN ME"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
This little amp has been around a long time. Its kinda a classic. The sound gets dirty very quickly. You can play clean guitar but not very loud. As soon as you push it, it goes to distortion. Which isn't a bad thing. Ive had Cubes and other battery amps with all the distortion stuff. I like the Pig best for some reason. You can play along with your stereo, Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, and about everyone and not blow your neighbors away. Chords are completely muddy if you push the volume but leads are sweet as a blues pickers amp cranked in a dive bar. The tone is like a small tube amp. My girlfriend loves it and that's what its all about. She can't understand why "Everyone" doesn't have a Pig.
Features
One knob does volume and distortion/breakup all in one.
Ease of Use
Form clean, dirty, filthy, total feedback with a twist of the knob.
Quality
There are countless YouTubes of people trying to kill a Pig.
Manufacturer Support
I've called the Pig place with a question or two. A human answers the phone.
The Wow Factor
Cool hinges, metal corners, handle and knob. Pigskin cover or "Tweed" drips with total sex appeal.

"Pignose a winner for true acoustic instrumental performances where speech can be a problem"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

We will not have to search for another product to replace this one. If these is a situation which we think this product may not handle, we already have a progressive series of other systems to use, though we don't expect to have to use them much now that we have this.
Sound
While we have a couple great sound systems, and usually perform acoustic or with a professional sound operator, there are times when we needed a little amp like this, primarily so the audience can hear and understand our spoken material. We do primarily Northwest historical fiddling and dancing programs under the auspices of various historical and arts organizations, and, while we perform with no amplification for our instruments, many times the speech doesn't carry well enough to be understood by the folks with hearing aides, etc. We used one of these little amps, owned by another performer, in such a situation recently. It worked great. It was a "no-brainer" for us to get one for these situations and not have to haul any other amplification system around. It is now all set up with its own mike (from our extensive collection), an AKG cable with built-in matching xfmr, and does the job just fine! We4 would recommend these to anyone in a situation similar to ours. Phil Williams, Voyager Recordings & Publications www.voyagerrecords.com
Features
I decided to order the optional AC supply, which fits handily inside the unit. Good design! The most useful feature is good sound and intelligibility with virtually no setup, and small, portable size. I can't think of any "least useful features" for what we want from it.
Ease of Use
The sounds are very good for its size and power. There is no learning curve to use it, and no need for an instruction book, if you are familiar enough with sound equipment to be able to turn on a table radio.
Quality
The product is very well made for rugged use. I have talked to others who have been carrying one of these around for years, and they are still in great shape.
Value
It is priced quite reasonably for its use.
Manufacturer Support
Have not had any occasion to contact the manufacturer, and don't expect one.
The Wow Factor
We have wanted something like this for years so we would not have to haul around a larger sound system for situations where this would do the trick. I have known about these for years, but always thought they were too small for our needs, until we tried one in an actual performing situation. It looks great and sounds great for its intended purpose. Could one ask for more?

It is awesome. Very loud and will totally work outside and get over the acoustic guitars. Should have got one long ago. It will not be very clean, so don't expect that. Enjoy the grit and distortion that it creates.

"Pignose 7-100"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I would love to see pignose come up with an all tube amp. I'm sure it would sound great as well.
Sound
The Pignose sound 10 times better than my Orange crush 12L which I bought at GC. I have turned the volume all the way up on the 7-100, I get a nice sounding distortion. there is also has no hiss, It has a nice clean sound as well. It works pretty good with pedals once you dial in the settings.
Features
What made me want to get this amp was when I went to Venice beach as a kid I saw this you cat on roller skates playing a guitar with this amp. I found out this was an amp that operated on batteries, when I saw him swapping out the old batteries ,and putting in new ones. Thats the beauty of this amp. When its at home, or the office use the power cord. When your at the park use the batteries. My son takes this amp to his guitar lessons.
Ease of Use
Easy to use. the more you use it the more you start experimenting with the tones you can get out of this amp.
Quality
This is a well buit amp. It does not feel flimsy at all. I feel that with proper care this amp will last me for many years to come.
Value
This is well worth the price listed. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a portable practice amp.
Manufacturer Support
I havent had to use them.
The Wow Factor
I love the way the dial looks( pignose )
