"Works with Reason"

I bought this too take advantage of the ssl mixer that comes with Propellerheads Reason. out of the box it mapped to the entire ssl mixer. Giving me a modern studio console in my studio. Unfortunately some of Reason's functions can not be midi mapped like New track, Save File or switching between windows but this is more of Reason fault not the Icon controller. I don't now if maybe they'll do an update in the future to fix this but at least all of the essentials for recording and mixing work.

"Takes getting used to but way better than using a mouse."

So I figured I would outfit my little home studio better using the great payment method they have here. I didn’t need a control surface but always heard they were a huge improvement in time spent on mixes once you get into the habit of using it. Looking at them ones available I ended up going with this Icon Pro G2 because it specifically mentions FL Studio which I’ve gotten used to recording in. It’s a little different of a daw so it’s not easy having to switch to others, so it was important the control surface works with everything including FL Studio. After I received the product and pulled it out of the box it was clear this was built with decent quality parts. It’s bigger than I thought in my head so I needed to modify my desk to fit everything where I wanted. Now my studio looks so much more like a studio complete with mixing console. It’s really easy to use for more than the number of channels it has on it but I still think I’ll eventually go for the add on module to have an even more complete studio. Using the pro g2 is very easy due to the overlays they provide for all the different daws in use. It’s easy to customize the controls as well and has an overlay for that too. The only thing I didn’t like was that I kept reaching for the mouse especially before getting more familiar with this thing. I slowly am relying less and less on the mouse at all while mixing our recording which is much more logical in my head for some reason. Anyway, it automatically connects and recognizes the daw in use so there isn’t any confusing set up needed at all. If it doesn’t pick up what daw you are using turn it on and off and it should get it. One thing I didn’t know but wish I had was the calibration of the faders. If they don’t want to easily adjust or move jumpy or unevenly when controlled by the on screen mixer it’s not anything wrong you just need to change the calibration. This is actually very easy to do but might take a couple adjustment to get right. The big one for me was the sensitivity of the faders and how much pressure it needs before letting you move it. The instructions and done videos of how it’s done are easily found online so I won’t put it here. I would rather have larger leds for the level meters because they were hard to see until I raised my chair a bit. In super bright light they can be a challenge to see accurately. The better model of this has meters I like but was overkill for my needs. I 100 % recommend this for a control surface. It works great with everything I’ve tried, which was like 5 different daws I use for various things. Not sure if it’ll work with superior drummer 3 stand alone but I’m hoping it will as that is now what I use with my Roland v drums. I don’t see why it wouldn’t it just might take some set up. Overall this thing is a great buy. For the price it can’t be beat, and while large it will take up less desk than most others that have similar features. I wish I would have gotten it before and learned the daws with it so I wouldn’t keep going to the mouse out of habit. Best part, it frees up my second monitor which used to just be used for the softest mixing console.

I purchased this unit to replace my dead Mackie mcu..Currently I am using it with Samplitude...Faders, Automation, and all the important functions all work as advertised, a few of the buttons isn't mapped to samplitude functions, but it isn't a deal breaker...It's built like a tank, it's about the same size as a Mackie mcu,, I would say about average size..I haven't tried it out with any other Daw's, but it comes with a lot of overlays for different Daw's, it's based on the Mackie protocol, so it should work with just about anything...I am very happy with my purchase...

Very well crafted piece of equipment. Very reliable, I've never had it not function as intended. I've used Protools and Logic with this and it's flawless. Just what I needed. If you're looking for a hands on control surface that doesn't glitch, by sure to look at this piece. You won't be sorry.

Built very well. You will not have a feeling of cheap equipment. Functions are very good for Protools. Just what I was looking for. Was tired of mixing in the box and wanted more of analog feel. This does that and more!!!

I purchased this in June (brand new) and it stopped working in November. Still under warranty but I have to pay out of pocket to have it shipped for repair. Extremely disappointed in this product. Probably should have waited to buy a more reliable brand.
