I purchased this pedal to help my peizo guitars compete with my other guitars with better sounding pickups. Sometimes folks using piezo pickups will sit in at my shows, so I keep this on hand to dial them in if need be. This thing is absolutely not plug and play. If you purchase this, you need to take time auditioning the different mic blends to match with each guitar that you intend to use with the pedal. You may need to use the software that Fishman provides to download additional images. I spent several hours with this pedal before running it live and eventually I was really pleased with the results. For me, the stock dread and OM images at a 30-40% blend with light compression was enough to tremendously help my guitars with piezo USTs. It definitely kills the quack! On a side note, a lot of folks knock piezo but please keep in mind that this technology exists for a reason! Piezo is a lot less prone to feedback at high volumes than just about every other flavor of acoustic amplification out there. That's why you still hear it in a lot of stadium settings today despite the other options that are readily available which are often considered tonally superior. There's a great gear rundown video with Jason Isbell where he talks about using Fishman USTs with the Spectrum DI in his Martins. The main thing to keep in mind if you're considering purchasing one of these is that the Spectrum is not some kind of magic bullet that will save any guitar. Its main job is to blend a mic image into a piezo tone. If the guitar sounds pretty rough despite the pickup, this pedal probably won't save it. For its intended purpose, I don't know of a better pedal on the market.

I love Fishman products. I had a lot of hope in this box as a solo acoustic player. However, it is very time consuming to adjust for each guitar I have (12), and was looking for something much easier to use in a flash. This is NOT that type of device. If you spend a lot of time in a studio or recording, etc., this is more your speed.

Good preamp / DI box. EQ & Comp worked well, but couldn't get the Aura imaging to sound right. Even with just a small amount mixed in I could hear a strange phase like sound. I tried this with a Rick Turner Renaissance RS6 thru a Schertler Jam 150. I ended up returning it.

This will not make your acoustic sound anything like a mic’d acoustic , and fishman doesn’t offer support for the aura imaging which was the reason I purchased this in the first place. Bummer

I have used a Martin acoustic/electric with a Fishman onboard pickup and a Fishman amp for years. I decided this might be a great addition to the 'loop'. Boy was I mistaken. After one hour of struggling to produce anything more than a slightly altered tone I put it back in the box and shipped it back. Very, very disappointed as I typically like Fishman products. It just offered nothing to my 'sonic landscape' that a cheap EQ foot pedal doesn't.
