I've wanted this interface for years and I finally bought it. I started regretting my decision when I had trouble getting firewire cables. I bought a firewire card at Fry's fro $18 and when I plugged it into my computer I discovered that the power connector was old-style and I would need an adapter if I wanted to power the pro26 over firewire. I don't so that was not a problem and I eventually found the firewire cables for $6.95. I'm not sure what the included 6pin to 4pin connects to, but you'll need 6 pin to 6 pin (for fw 400) or 6 pin to 9 pin (for fw 800). Once I had the cables, installation went very smoothly and I was playing back music in no time. I use digital speakers so I needed to route output to spdif which was easy to do. The mixer is just wonderful. The loop back option is really fantastic. Everything is very solid and the sound quality is a noticeable improvement over my previous NI Komplete Audio 6 USB interface. Even though firewire is outdated, I highly recommend this audio interface.
Sound
Sound is great. Loud and clear.
Features
Tons of features, separate mixes, lots of I/O and the loop back feature is a great way to get audio from any source into your DAW.
Ease of Use
The manual is not great, but eventually you'll get it.
Quality
Seems solid enough
Value
I paid around $300 for this unit and I think it is well worth the price. I have not even downloaded the free software but I plan to put it to good use.
Manufacturer Support
have not needed it yet.
The Wow Factor

I have been using a USB interface for both Pro Tools and Liguc for years. I decided to upgrade to a more current technology. I Chose the Saffire FireWire interface and am happy with it. It is very quiet and has all the in/outs I need for my project studio. As usual the product selection, information, and service provided by zZounds was excellent.

I have been playing guitar for over 50 years. I play as a solo act and also work recording sessions for other musicians.

I should have read the details carefully. If you don't have a computer with a firewire 400/800 or Thunderbolt slot DO NOT BUY THIS. Unless of coarse you plan on buying a computer or PCIE firewire or thunderbold card. Also there are claims of firewire or thunderbold not being supported by certain versions of windows. Do the research before you buy and see if you feel like messing around with all of this. I bought a Firewire card that should work with my windows 10 computer. Here is the link to the card that I bought. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QY7M3Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 I will see if it works when it arrives in a few days.

In home recording studio.

"Not really Thunderbolt"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I was going to buy this to replace my older Saffire (with which am quite happy) - in order to use Thunderbolt connectivity. But it is really only a Firewire 800 device, with an adaptor that plugs into a Thunderbolt port (not furnished - but I already have one) . Wish it had true Thunderbolt output.

Musical Background:

Professional musician, playing for 50 years, 2 major symphony orchestras
