"Excelsior Pro Very Usable Amp"

Purchased the amp on 10-16-13 it arrived in a very timely manner from FedEx in good condition. Right out of the box this amp sounds very good and has a bit of a retro tone to it. This one has the Eminence speaker with light doping around the outer rim. I did do the tone mode with a 500K CTS pot which makes the tone much more user friendly. Then the power tubes were replaced with JJ 6V6S tubes and it now sounds wonderful. It is a keeper for sure.

I love my Fender excelsior pro in surf green. for 13 watts it is clear, clean and loud even with the stock tubes. I read about rattling but those were reviews on the older excelsior. nothing is rattling on this amp and i have plenty of tone to work with without any mods and ot tkaes pedals well right through the front. And thanks zzounds for the payment options!

Sound
I feel the amp really brings out the sound of my arch tops. That extra large speaker,ad the tube sound is a great combination, The Tremelo is a nice touch too. If you need Reverb you can do what I do, hang a mic in front of it and use the reverb from you sound system.
Features
the only complaint I find is the power portion of the amp is located in the bottom of the cabinet and is turned on/ off with a toggle switch. which is also on the bottom of the amp. I do find this inconvenient, since there is no Stand By switch. So between gigs your bending down to turn it on and off. The weight of the amp yo carry is very tolerable. The addition of Reverb would have been nice.
Ease of Use
This amp features a lack of knobs and buttons! the has 3 separately voiced inputs voiced, and volume knob and a Tremelo Speed knob. The result is the amp couldn't be easier to control.
Quality
This item is actually made quite well. One thing I would suggest and I've done it. The back of the amp cabinet is totally open with no cross bar, leaving that big 15 inch speaker susceptible to being punctured while your transporting it to a gig. I have added a wooden cross bar like most other amps come with, to guard against any other piece of equipment from damaging the speaker while rattling around during transport.
Value
Not mentioning the low price , this amp is a just real bargain, but offers much.
Manufacturer Support
I'm using Fender products since 1960, to be honest I've never had to call Fender with an issue, so I really don't know what their Customer Service Dept. is like.
The Wow Factor
A tube amp with a 15 in speaker, Tremelo included, 3 voiced inputs and a a carying weight thats tolerable.

This is a very good sounding amp and is very useable for small gigs or home use. The 16 inch Celestion speaker sounds very good even before break in. It has light doping on the outer rim of the cone. I did replace the tone switch with a 500K audio taper tone pot and that allowed better dialing in of the tone. Very satisfied with this purchase and Zzound is very good to work with.

Musical Background:
