"NOTHING LIKE IT!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This guitar was made for the sole purpose of looking like and sounding like the original. They succeeded with flying colors. As EVH said himself "it feels and sounds better than the original"
Sound
It has the distinct sound that has been crafted throughout the years by the ingenuous "tone seeker" ed van halen. there is not now nor will there ever be another guitar with such a distinct unmistakable sound.
Features
Being that it is an exact replica of the infamous Frankenstrat it has everything to look and sound like van halen.
Ease of Use
Definitely NOT for an amateur. Difficult to play well, but when you accomplish it there is no sound like it.
Quality
Compare the 2 pictures of original and new. you will not be able to tell which is which, EVH couldn't
Value
Considering there are only 300 being offered to the public 25,000 is not a steal, but for this guitar that price is to be expected.
Manufacturer Support
Made by Fender, even though i am a die hard Gibson man all my dealings with Fender have been more than pleasant.
The Wow Factor
This is the most recognizable guitar in rock and roll history, buying it would make you the owner of a piece of history as well as the owner of a kick ass guitar.

"EVERYBODY WANTS ONE!!!!!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'm truly in love. I sold my dream car to come up with the cash for it. If you have the means i strongly suggest buying this guitar. And no matter what other people say about it if they haven't played it they don't understand. I was a fan of eddie before i bought my frankenstein but now van halen is more like an obsession for me. It just screams BUY ME!!!!!
Sound
c'mon man its eddie's guitar. He is a GUITAR GOD and with the sound this thing makes its not hard to see why.
Features
It comes in the coolest case ever (to match the coolest guitar) with lots of fun little goodies like a dvd on the making of the guitar and some hand signed pictures
Ease of Use
the neck shape is awesome its a nice thin c and theres only one knob and there are no switches the only thing to really get hung up on is the floyd rose and if your used to it then its completely worth it
Quality
hahaha its eddie van halen's $25,000 guitar, what do you think. its absolutely 100% an exact copy of the real thing
Value
if your not a van halen fan and you haven't played this guitar then you just don't understand. I first saw it just before it was on sale and i thought it was crazy to spend that kind of cash on a replica but when you play it, it finally clicks and it all makes sense.
Manufacturer Support
fender is very easy to deal with, i mean they've been building guitars since the beginning
The Wow Factor
EVERYBODY WANTS SOME seriously i did not have the cash for this guitar but after i played it i had to have it so i went home put a for sale sign on my corvette and 2 days later had my very own frankenstein and i have been in love ever since

"It depends on what your looking for."

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
It depends on what you like. If you like art, and you dont intend to play this, but you are looking for an investment, this is for you. If you are looking for a playing guitar, dont buy this, buy a non-collectors item guitar. If you still want the EVH sound, Charvel makes a cheaper model of Eddie's guitar for only 3,000$.
Sound
Ed's Sound.
Features
Only One Pickup, only a volume knob.
Ease of Use
How can you screw up a single pickup, a volume knob and a floyd rose?
Quality
Fender always builds well
Value
This is not a guitar for playing. It is a piece of art. If you buy this, stick it on your wall and let it rot, because it's value is going everywhere but down.
Manufacturer Support
Its Fender.
The Wow Factor
Personally, this guitar has no appeal to me. It looks cool, sounds cool, but I really dont like wall art, and if i didnt use it as a piece of art, i wouldnt play it anyway, because the neck is WAY to small for me (i have big hands).

"An investment guitar? Replica."

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I would never buy it.
Sound
Well, I've seen it, but from what people that have jammed on it (veterans), tell me there is much better for far less as far as quality goes.
Features
the most useful features??? What can I say? The Great Price?? Eddies Personal signature? For 25 G's He could have invested in a sharpie and signed them.
Ease of Use
I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, how hard could it be with all of the different pickups, knobs, dials, and switches it offers.
Quality
not really crazy about the look.
Value
Not at all to me. It's way overpriced. But if you look at it from the collecters view it is worth the price to them. Some pay millions for a wall painting. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would not think any one was nuts for purchasing this guitar.
Manufacturer Support
don't own.
The Wow Factor
Not much to say there. I felt no urge to have to get it.

"It is what it is.........."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
It is what it is and appears to be the best at what it is.
Sound
This is a collectors item, more of a piece of art than a musical instrument. you could build 2 dozen "frankenstrat" replicas for the cost. That said, it sounds good, the duncan humbucker has a nice EVH tone..duh..lol
Features
Well... The volume knob marked tone is a stroke of genius. lol
Ease of Use
About as straight forward as a guitar gets. No switches and 1 knob.
Quality
as strange as it sounds, a replica of a guitar that looks like it was put together by a drunk high school kid..(well....) somehow, exudes class. Remember this is "THE" guitar many male and many females over 30 worshiped. I can still remember playing my VH I cassette of eruption on my "boombox" w/my bandanna and mullet.. Joanie did love Chachi you know? The guitar feels substantial in your hands, be that the actual guitar or the aura surrounding it, I'm not sure.
Value
Well, this is subjective. If these really all sold out in 15minutes than 25,000 was too low a price and anyone that got one at that price got a great value. Obviously, no the components and even the workmanship are not worth 25G but if the market wants these as bad as it appears they do a 25G frankenstrat is a better investment than most.
Manufacturer Support
As a strat owner I had a couple dealing (well the store i bought from did) w/Fender's warranty and it was always quick and easy.
The Wow Factor
the "I want it" factor is huge. But 25G is past the point of impulse buy for about 99.5 of the population. This is a purchase for the collector or the wealthy.

"LIKE FINDING THE HOLY GRAIL!!! "

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Freaking incredible!! A big thank you to Eddie Van Halen for letting guys like us get a taste of something that held such mystic for so many of us. I met him when I was 16 and he was so laid back and cool. I'm now 41 and this made me feel like 16 again. Even though I'm not going to buy one just yet, a big thank you to Fender and the artist who did the replica and of course Eddie VH.
Sound
I played this thing for an hour and it was just staggering to me to hold it in my hands. Everything I did from hp's to harmonics was amazing to see how it responded. I haven't played VH stuff in a while but how could you not? I sat there in the middle of the store and didn't care if I was a dork or not because it brought back my teenage years and worth my humility. Besides VH music still rocks. To my surprises a bunch of dudes surrounded me and we started passing it back and forth riffing VH. It was a blast. This guitar represented something mystical to me as a kid. It was an emotional trip and what was even cooler is that the guitar kicked serious ass!
Features
Every detail astounding!!!
Ease of Use
Played like a gem. Screamed!
Quality
Perfect replica. Felt like it was Eddie's that I was holding. Unbelievable detail. I couldn't help but to just stare at this magnificent work. Like holding the Holy Grail at the sake of being corny. Who cares, it made my day!
Value
Man if I had silly money to throw around I'd buy 3 one for each room of my house. But seriously it's a down payment on a house, a new car, plastic surgery for my wife. I'm so tempted becuase of what it represents but shelling out that much dough right now is not practical.
The Wow Factor
Yes! I want it but I can't have it! Not yet, bummer man.
