Story: The Viper 1000 Series- The black sheep and cousin of the EC-1000. If you're into the hardcore, go to metal shows, or any type of sub genre where theres some type of breakdown, drop tuning involved, you've probably seen a few EC-1000 being played by your local or touring bands. The Vipers aren't as common as the EC-1000, but they play and sound almost identical. I think most EC-1000's are topped with a maple top which can add some dynamics to it. The Vipers are more of a one piece of wood all around. "Off set body": Something that gets brought up a lot about the Viper series is the off-set body. If you don't know what I mean by this, it's when you have the head stock pointing towards the stage lights with your left hand on your neck. And what happens is when you let go of the neck, it drops. It drops to a 90 degree angle, and as long as your right hand is resetting on bridge or on the guitar in general it's not that big of deal. Sound: Amazing, The 1000 series in general sounds great, with Mahogany bodies, EMG's, tone-pros, and an ebony fret board, it's perfect for my needs. I've played this on the clean channel as well and it's sings beautifully, just turn the volume knob down on the guitar and increase the volume on your amp to get a cleaner sound. But if you're trying to turn some heads with your sweet guitar tone and your 6505/5150 half stack put an overdrive pedal in front of it accompanied by a noise gate and you have melted butter on your PB&J. Setup: The setup was perfect, I've been playing guitar for 10 years, played numerous guitars, lot's of LTD's and theres a noticeable difference when you play a brand new,out of the box LTD. The guitar was only touched and played by the folks in the factory, so you get this extremly clean, detailed guitar with no finger prints, perfectly setup action by the people at ESP/LTD. Conclusion: The Viper 1000 is a perfect fit for me and could be for you, with Zzsounds payment plan the guitar was accessible to me with my tight budget, I bought the guitar not knowing what it would sound or play like but I am extremely pleased with my purchase. If you are looking into an EC-1000 and want something different, or just want to explore the ESP/LTD line, the Viper is great way to venture out without going out of your comfort zone of what you might be used to. Youtube: You can check out the Viper-1000 being used on A Day To Remembers' title track,"Right Back At It Again" As well as Pierce the Veil's guitarist Tony Perry using his Viper in various videos.
