Buying a guitar blind can be a risky proposition. I read a lot of reviews of a lot of instruments and grudgingly, because the color choices are a bit iffy, settled on this one.I haven't put this thing down since I got it. Every last detail is perfect and the comfort points are off the charts. The pickup configuration is as versatile as you'll ever find. Whether you want shredding distortion or sweet twang, this Charvel delivers.My one complaint is the setup was slightly lacking, particularly in the action. Lots of buzz out of the box. That said, I'm a strong believer that there isn't really a one size fits all setup anyways. Make it your own!

In theory, this guitar is great for its price range. Quality parts, versatile, if only the QC wasn't so woefully absent. Upon receiving the guitar, it was unplayable. The nut was cut so poorly that the only way to reduce the all-over-the-fretboard buzzing was to max the string height, which in itself is already unplayable, but it would STILL buzz, just not as badly. In addition, I guess Charvel decided to have their new models built with only 1 string tree, as opposed to the 2 represented in the picture, meaning the G string, at least in my case, would have a sitar effect in addition to the already existing buzzing. After spending way too much time and money on "Charvel authorized techs", I could only get it to be somewhat playable (I was told by Charvel it would be under warranty but they decided to do a full setup without my asking them (only mentioned the nut and string tree issue) and charged me a whole $90 so that was sick), and decided I would attempt a return. I mentioned the issues I had with it and what was done to attempt to alleviate it, and in fairness I did forget to include the backplate which I offered to send afterwards and there is a small chip in the finish (size of a penciltip next to the backplate) through no fault of my own which I mentioned when emailing and they AUTHORIZED my return despite that, but my return was rejected despite being fully transparent prior to attempting the return. So now I'm $1200 in the hole for a guitar that may as well be firewood since I can't use it without investing in another nut and paying yet another tech to cut it "properly". 0/10, never buying from zZounds or Charvel again. I've never attempted to return a guitar in my life, and this experience beginning to end could only have been worse if the truss rod came broken, but then they'd still probably reject my return.
