"Not great, just a nice piece of hardware."

First off let me tell you that I have 0 musical ability! After playing with this for about an hour, I had my first decent sounding track! Some of the samples are downright horrible while others are top notch! I Love my Thang, The only bad thing about this is the software!! Save often as it will crash on a regular basis guaranteed. I was just playing a track that I just made and halfway through a pitch bent note, it froze even with the new OS.. It is very well constructed with a readable screen even in sunlight. Pads feel nice but after mashing on them for an hour, your fingers begin to hurt :D All in all a fun piece of hardware!

""The Most Slept On Drum Machine""

As an early adopter of the Beat Thang Virtual. I can honestly say I was skeptical about the hardware. After my recent purchase of the Beat Thang, I can honestly say that it was one of THE BEST purchases I've made. The software and/or firmware is very stable. Audio Quality is pristine. Sequencer is tight... with a cool swing option to humanize the stiffness of your drum cadence. The abundance of sounds and expansion sound paks! THE BEAT THANG is not going to make you an overnight producer(that is for you so-called 15 minute producers) but it is a well built Drum Machine/Sequencer that works... And it works well! The Lithium Ion actually last about 2-3hours after a full charge. The Beat Thang is in its own category, an addition to your collection...!

Being a musician and considerably new to the electronic world of music production I did a lot of research and went with the Beat Thang, probably because it reminded me a lot of the old Yamaha QY300 that I used to solo with in the 90's. Built tough-this unit is heavy, with a metal casing, yet the pads are absolutely perfect. I tend to use the factory version of medium sensitivity, but you can adjust that in the system settings. Knobs are notched and heavy duty and the Blang features are really cool. Factory Samples- great kit and instrument sounds. The ability to sample is fantastic so there really are no limits! Overall a great buy. Would give it 5 starts but the BTV website is not as user friendly. While the customer service is great the machine tends to reboot or freeze at times. I have read this from other users as well so I know it's not just mine.

This is a good machine, if it didn't have so many bugs. It crashed on me numerous of times while recording. It froze on me during midi set up as well. The sounds are great and once they fix this issue it will be unstoppable. I also wish it had a microscopic edit function to really get create, not just loops!

Bought this for my son for Xmas and I must say as a former dj I was impressed . The beats are great and it's built like a tank, so far no problems and most importantly he LOVES it.

Plugged it in, the OS crashed twice in less than 1 hour forcing a reboot of the machine mid song losing all my work. Boxed it up and returned it the next day and ordered a Machinedrum.
