"Good stuff"

Best mixer by far at this price point - and I've tried many. I believe you can't get this quality sound for this price otherwise. Perfect for a band on the road or a smaller studio.
Sound
I have owned this mixer now for about 2 years and prior to that the UB series 2442. There was a significant improvement in the mic preamps that I noticed immediately from one series to the next. I don't believe you will find something of this quality at this price range anywhere. Noise is quite low. The effects are useful for a live situation though I don't use them to record with - the reverbs are too grainy to use for recording. All-in-all an excellent product compared to mixers going for 2x as much.
Features
Really shines here. Behringer finds a way to really pack their products with features and extras and the Xenyx 2442 is no exception. Once again you'd be very hard pressed to buy a mixer at this price that does what the 2442 does.
Ease of Use
Laid out intuitively. The manual gets a bit confusing. If you know a bit about using a bus mixer you won't have any problems - you'll be up and running in minutes.
Quality
You know - I've heard alot of beef about how poorly Behringer products are costructed. I own 25+ Behringer products and I must say they are quite durable and long-lasting. I have had no problems with my mixer and I use it practically every day. My UB series mixer has been on the road multiple times and has underwent some abuse and temperature extremes and is still functioning perfectly. I feel This product was made quite well and with a good road case, should handle the road well.
Value
This is where Behringer shines - as stated earlier, full featured, great sounding mixer for a great price.
Manufacturer Support
I have used Behringer support twice and I have been very pleased. Reply within 24 hours and diligent and intelligent people staffing the phones.
The Wow Factor
Sex appeal for a mixer? Hmm.... But seriously, I drooled on my box before I opened it...

Behringer XENYX 2442FX Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I will keep it for as long as it still works and still meets my needs.
Sound
With good microphones and good cables the Pre's on this mixer are very quiet. I only use this for recording, so I like to keep cables only as long as they need to be so I make my own.
Features
Some lesser models than the Xenyx2442FX have different features such as surround sound enhancement and voice removal as well as a Graphic EQ, I like the parametric EQ on the individual channels but I prefer a graphic EQ overall. I guess in order to keep the cost down they had to diversify the different models.
Ease of Use
I am used to a larger mixing console so there is some getting used to knobs and switches being so close together. The boards layout is very good.
Quality
Sliders and knobs and switches all seem to be of good quality, I wont be using this much outdoors, when it does travel it will be in a rack in a case.
Value
Very good bang for the buck.
Manufacturer Support
The best support is support that is never needed.
The Wow Factor
The bright blue power LED hurts my eyes, I will have to tape it off or cover it with transparent red tape.

"Amazing Product"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Absolutely amazing (FX processor is fantastic, couldn't believe the quality for the money!)
Features
Everything you would expect on a decent live/studio board
Ease of Use
Great EQ, but confusing at the start, but you quickly get used to it (if you are a new sound person that is!!)
Quality
Brilliantly built, no problems
Value
Deffinatley, for the money, its the best you can get (this sort of board is worth about 500 - 1000)
Manufacturer Support
I have had no experience regarding warranty issues!
The Wow Factor
Looks great, could be modded up a bit!

"keep looking, this one isn't worth it."

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
i will make do with this for now, but i will never buy another behringer mixer again
Sound
the mic pre amps don't work worth a damn. turning up the gain 99% produces NO sound then in the last fraction of a millimeter of the knob the sound suddenly appears- and CLIPS! i had to buy a seperate 8 channel mic preamp to use the board at all.
Features
it does everything i needed it to do- direct outs were essential to me, effects are ok... lots of flexibility in signal routing.
Ease of Use
not bad
Quality
cheap mic pre's make the whole thing suck
Value
it is extremely flexible in its signal routing, i just had to buy another component to make it work... so i guess it isn't completely worthless.
Manufacturer Support
i called the behringer help line hoping that maybe mine was just broken. i explained that the mixer made NO sound until the gain was ALL the way up and then it suddenly clipped- the 'engineer' said that it was supposed to work that way and that it was making sound, but i couldn't her it... what is the point of that? this is not my first mixer, i know when something doesn't work and i will NEVER buy another behringer mixer again.
The Wow Factor
nice looking, but not so quick on the inside- kinda like a pretty girl that can't have an intelligent conversation.

"It´s a Behringer"

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
If you just want anything cheap, Behringer is good for you, if you want anything that sounds good and is reliable, then stay away from anything with the name Behringer
Sound
Sound, yes that mixer makes a sound. You have to put the faders up higher than on any other brand of mixer to get sound, but yes, there is a sound. The question is do you want a GOOD sound, if the answer is "yes" then do not get this mixer
Features
Yes, great, this mixer has many features, not as much inputs as the older (and better) SL 2442FX; but still, many features for a desk in this price class. The problem is that you can't be sure if the mixer still works tomorrow. But this mixer, with all its features is cheap, so in therms of quality, reliability and sound...you get what you pay for. Strange that their older SL2442FX was much better than the Xenix, but don't we all want to save money in these hard times where the bank manages ran off with our savings
Ease of Use
As any, if it still works tomorrow
Quality
Typical Behringer quality, does it still work tomorrow..you can't be sure.
Value
You get what you pay for, but although it is cheap, is it worth i if it sounds terrible or can break down at any given moment
Manufacturer Support
I do not know but have heard their support in the US is ok, while their European support seems to be a shambles
The Wow Factor
No thanks, I am working pro, therefore can not afford Behringer gear, I need a reasonable sound quality and the reassurance that I am not let down but sudden failure of a piece of gear.

"If you need a good sounding desk with a ton of features grab it. I do think that anyone using it should seriously consider using"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
It's decent sounding board and relatively quiet. The mic pres are quite good . The FX are cheesy and noisy -IMO. Other than that it's good basic board. I've had no problems from failed channels and I use it almost daily. It's not Mackie , but nor is it priced like one. for line level signals you won't be able to tell it's not a more expensive board. I also own two Mackies and this is my basis of comparison.
Features
It's loaded and flexible. The FX section is good for basic application and not much more than that.
Ease of Use
It's as easy to use as any other 4 bus desk.
Quality
Feels solid and I've had no problems with past Behringers in my rack.
Value
It's a loaded desk for a killer price. If you wanty a Mackie or other board fine.- but this unit should be kept in context of its price.
Manufacturer Support
It's primarily through the dealers when under warranty so I have no complaints. They usually will replace it rather than repair.

"A Good Mixer, but as for recording interface..."

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Since buying this mixer I've bought a Firepod which is great. I use the Xenyx and the Firepod together to record live shows with pretty good results (everything goes into the firepod first and then into the mixer to avoid the noise of the Xenyx)However, the Xenyx will never be used for recording.
Sound
As I said earlier, good for live, bad for recording. It has a 4 band eq, but as far as EQing goes, I do it all after I record, so if I make any mistakes, the consequences are minimal, plus, I like 32bands!
Ease of Use
This is where I have to careful. As far as a mixer for live sound goes, the Xenyx is pretty good. Ive done gigs and practices with it now and the results have been nice and it wasn't painstaking to get them. However as far as recording goes, as another reviewer said; "It adds too much noise to be useful for recording" this quote is spot on and so it looses big points there. If anyone is considering this as an option for recording DON'T! Save your money up and buy a Presonus Firebox or Firepod or buy a different mixer and sound card separately as mentioned earlier.
Quality
This thing looks pretty well built, the faders are quite smooth (a little too smooth i think, but hey, thats just me) There are a few things that feel a little flimsy but overall I think it could take a fair few knocks and will probably last.
Value
This mixer is overpriced. It records in stereo so you have to mix everything before you record, and if you mess it up, you'll have to record it all again. This is fair enough, but when you realize that you could buy a bigger mixer and a sound card for the same price to achieve the same results (and probably better), you start to wonder what the extra cash is paying for. As far as the built in effects, I don't like to ad effects until after everything is recorded, but they seem to be ok. I wouldn't recommend this unit to anyone who is fairly new to recording or who wants to record drums well, in fact, just don't buy this for recording!
