This is a great mixer for the money. I don't imagine it will last as long as one that costs several times the price. So when it gets tired I will likely replace it with whatever works best at the time. I will say you could buy two and keep one as a spare and still not spend as much as some other mixers.
Sound
The mic preamps are excellent, extremely quiet. It is possible to achieve almost any thing you might want in the way of sound. I am using this mixer for live sound at present. I am currently using the built in EQ, and it is pretty effective, but I will want to add a 31 band EQ at some point. I actually found the feedback detector useful, by dropping the indicated band, I could achieve higher levels, while maintaining a natural sound. Using this mixer with a pair of Behringer EP2500 power amps, JBL MP225 mains, and 4 Behringer F1520s as monitors. Makes an outstanding PA System. As has been said elsewhere here, the FX while useful and rich in variety are not very flexible within the specific effect selected.
Features
This unit has just about anything you could ever want for a live sound mixer. Lots and lots of inputs and outputs. I would like to see the AUX outs spaced a little farther apart like the subgroup outs. As a recording mixer, some would want more busses, sends, etc. It can do the job for recording.
Quality
This is a well made unit. Worked very well right out of the box. It is a large, complex device, so I feel it will need a good strong case for road use. When I was going through the selection process, I compared it with Yamaha, Mackie, other Behringers, and I felt this model had a quality feel, despite its low price.
Value
Nothing even comes close to offering this performance, feature set, function, flexibility, and quality at this price, except other Behringer models.
Manufacturer Support
Not enough experience yet to say over the long haul, but I haven't had a need to use support on any of my Behringer products.
The Wow Factor
Its a mixer. Sexy? Well it looks pretty cool. Control freaks will salivate I am sure.

"Great quality at the best price! How do they do it?"

Sound
I install sound and video for a living. I have found that Behringer products work great and save my clients a bundle. I own the SL3242 and use it for my music ministry. Who would have thought you could buy a mixer with this many inputs and 2 digital effects for under $600.00? Warranty works. I also have several EP series amps. Good clean power under $300.00. WOW!

Behringer SL3242FX-Pro Customer Review

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
OK, it started up and worked, but I would NEVER recommend this product to anyone else. I own lots of other Behringer gear, so I'm not slamming the company. For all their talk of the warmth of the Preamps, I am really disappointed.
Sound
I used the board in a youth church rally mixing a 6 piece rock band. The room was a 500 seat auditorium with about 10 people in attendance. The front was biamped with 2 15s with horns and 1 X 18 subs. The instruments sounded OK, but the preamps for vocals were horrible. We were using Shure Beta 58 mics. The vocal sound was very brittle with no warmth at all. On the first night there was only minimal setup time so I blamed myself. For the second day I got a couple of hours in the room to run the DEQ 2496 and really shake the system out. Unfortunately, the vocals plain stunk. CD's played through the system were equally brittle and had no transparency or warmth. I'm very dissappointed and embarassed to have recommended this board.
Features
I was longing for additional AUXes so that I could replace the weak effects in the unit.
Ease of Use
I was never able to get an acceptable sound for vocals. System routing was normal but again lacked sufficient AUXes.
Quality
Fit and finish are fine. The board seems solidly made.
Value
Lot's of channels with poor sound...

"Great Product"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Great product. I use it for recording and live sound. They should just make it compatable to work with simple USB devices like the UCA202.
Sound
A great board. Sound compares to the high end Mackies, without the high price tag.
Features
A lot of built in features, but I personally like to use real compressors and gates.
Ease of Use
Everything is straight foward and where it is supposed to be.
Quality
Really durable, especially when I travel to gigs.
Value
Can't get any more bang for you're buck.
The Wow Factor
It's big. It looks really cool to be standing behind it and look like you know what you're doing. People come to me and ask me if it cost more than the car I carry it in.

"Give it a try! You might love it!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
bottom line. if you want a mixer with a ton of channels, that you can have some basic fx, and an eq (which is rare on mixers) and it even handles a talk back section for studio and control room use, I highly recomend this product. (and no, I don't work for Beringer!)
Sound
The quality of the sound of this mixer cannot be matched for the price. I use this unit in a home recording studio control room, and have very low noise into my multi-track computer.
Features
The two seperate fx units that are in the mixer are good. they can be used as "processers" for limiting or compression. they can also be used as chorus/hall/vocal plate/ etc. 2 auxes, 4 sub masters, even xlr and trs outs. pre-post fader eq, sweepable mids, inserts work great with my rack compressor/gates.
Ease of Use
the mixer is versatile. you will need to spend a little time with the unit to get used to all it's features. it is also pretty small (considering it has 32 channels!) I can easily move it (although I won't be now that it is set up)
Quality
so far no problems. unit is solid. no bad attenuators or switches.
Value
totally worth the price. my recordings have gone from (demo sounding) to pro audio. for under 600 bucks...come on!!
Manufacturer Support
never had to
The Wow Factor
this mixer makes me want to have a glass of wine... curl up with it next to a fire, on a bear skin rug... ooohhh yeahhhhh! ...I mean,,uh what? yeah it's sexy.
