Was using an iRig (which is a neat sub-$40 gizmo) but the sound was very noisy. Plus, it didn't plug into my mac. Decided to take a chance on this unit...OMG...the sound is crystal clean..no matter what volume. None of the garbage noise you get from units that plug into an iPad's or iPhone's headphone jack. With garageband (on Mac or iPad) this thing is awesome!

Using with my iPad and my iPhone. No software is included, but that only means that you get to pick what you prefer. I'm using jam up pro and garage band. Finally get to sit in the living room while my wife watches reality tv and not want to gouge my eyes out. Clear sound. No issues. I do think 100 is a little steep, but given the competition it's by far the best option.

Musical Background:

Hobbiest. Guitar for around 20 years.

All of the above.

I had the iRig interface. Cludgy and lots of background noise. The Apogee is quiet, has a gain control and works with everything. Only issue is you can't charge your phone or ipad with it attached.

These guitars are very playable and a great value. The frets are larger than vintage ones and the neck seems to have a vintage/modern radius on it so if your looking for bone vintage than these may not be for you. After having my tech set it up it played gloriously. The Tex-Mex pickups are a little dark for my taste and will probably be swapped out for Klein epic 62's at some point but for an out of the box strat their great. I know I may catch hell form the collecting crowd, but as a pro player for 20 years now, I don't really see much difference between this and a run of the mill Custom Shop strat. Yes, the custom shop will have better hardware and whatnot, but is it really $2500 better? In my opinion, no, and I've owned both custom shop and vintage fenders. My only complaint is that they could have done the neck in nitro as well, and maybe added a top coat of yellowing, but then the price would rise significantly and defeat the purpose of these guitars. All in all you won't be disappointed by these instruments.

I've been a professional musician for 20+ years. I play just about anything with strings and frets.

Completely idiot proof way to get a guitar recorded onto a Mac. Been monkeying with computers for 30 years, computer recording for 10, and exactly ZERO devices before this one was truly plug and play.
