"The inexpensive condenser that roars."

I believe that once the word gets out on these,AKG will corner the market on 100 buck large condensers. In my opinion they rival much more expensive mics.
Sound
I have only used this mic for vocals, and It produces a very smooth warm transparent sound. It Is far and away the best so called cheap Chinese condenser mic that I have auditioned, and I have auditioned several... possibly because of the fact that actual AKG diaphragms are used instead of Chinese ones.
Features
Bare bones, but built like a tank.
Ease of Use
Plug and play.
Quality
Very sturdy construction and fit and finish are excellent.
Value
Excellent value for the price.
Manufacturer Support
I have not had to deal with support.
The Wow Factor
A sturdy no nonsence mic.

I am happy with the mic and hope that it holds up...if it lasts, I won't be buying anything else.
Sound
It works *extremely* well for the interviews that I do. It is surprisingly difficult to get the mic to clip and is very forgiving despite being so sensitive. When you are wearing headphones and monitoring what it picks up, it is like you have dog ears -- you can hear things that you can't hear normally.
Features
The Perception 100 (this one) doesn't have any buttons or adjustments. Just an XLR jack on the bottom, as it should have. I haven't felt like I needed anything else. If you want switchable PREATTENUATION or switchable BASS CUT, then get the Perception "200" instead. It does cost more, obviously.
Ease of Use
Just plug it in with XLR cables and hook the thing into a mic stand. Easy.
Quality
The delicate microphone and electronic stuff on the inside is German made as far as I know, but the metal case body and final assembly is done in China. The mic appears to be TOP NOTCH in fit and finish. No metal burrs or misaligned or loose parts so far.
Value
Excellent value for the price, especially considering the delicate components that matter most are German made (though final assembly is in China.) Behringer's similarly-priced inexpensive mics are unfortunately 100% Chinese components, so now you know why some people knock Behringer for their stuff breaking. The Behringers do come with cases and shock mounts, while the AKG is just the mic and a mic holder and a short instruction manual.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't dealt with the company so far.
The Wow Factor
It is a good mic, I'd buy it again. Just don't expect anyone to drool over it...AKG Perception 100 is like a Toyota Camry. Gets the job done, but it isn't a Ferrari, either.

AKG Perception 100 Mic Customer Review

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Sound
Vocals - Pinched and thinnish, however better than a dynamic mic especially for female vocalists Acoustic Guitar - For the price, absolutely ****ing amazing! Wow!
Features
Comes with a stand adaptor. If you have more $$$, go for the AKG perception 200 or 400, they are much better.
Ease of Use
Learning curve is damn short! And this is from someone who never used a mic before using this.
Quality
Sturdy as a rock.
Value
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it 100.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to use it, but AKG's website is great.
The Wow Factor
Nice loookin'

"If you can't stand the sound of your own voice, you'll hate this!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I wish I had known that I'd want the "Pad" switch but I ended up getting that feature on my audio interface. I'll move up to a 200 or 400 some day but there's no real hurry. I'll be sticking with AKG. Thanks for the deal.
Sound
I am using this mic for home recording and live, indoor/outdoor performances. As with my C1000S, I can stand well back from this one and move in close for the soft, warm vocals. A turn of the head is enough to prevent popping but a distance of 6-8inches & a pop filter is a must for studio use.
Features
Well if you look under the poster, you'll find a very small instruction booklet....... That's it. A case of some sort would have been nice.
Ease of Use
There is some warmth to it when you move in close but other than that, it reproduces exactly what it picks up, exactly.
Quality
Ladies blush when they handle this microphone. The rest just smile.
Value
I bought this one through this web-site. It is a steal. I've paid $100 for a $300 mic and would have been just as pleased with the mic if I had payed full price.
Manufacturer Support
Who?
The Wow Factor
I got it because it's an AKG and I trust them. A nice chrome grill design was what I was looking for. It's bulky for live performances but the fact that you can move back afrom it means that your audience can see more of your face than the guy singing into one of those "Shure" things!

"Disappointed"

Sound
This mic is a disappointment, giving narrow, pinched highs; sounds cheap and bottom end.

"I'm impressed!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'm very satisfied with it, and am not expecting to replace it anytime soon.
Sound
I wanted a condenser mic for vocals (lyric soprano). I asked around and a few people recommended this microphone on a budget. I was also considering an Audio-technica 2020, but I heard that the high end sounds brittle on it, so I went with this one. I am not disappointed at all! For recording and live settings, I think its perfect. However, it is so sensitive that it picks up everything, including the buzzing of my computer monitor. I guess room acoustics have to be taken into account when you decide to buy this microphone!
Features
The mic came with a mic stand mount...
Ease of Use
It is very easy to use, but the sound needs tweaking, at least for me, because my room acoustics are not good.
Quality
Look at this mic, and you might think it came straight from Switzerland. It's very heavy, but very elegant at the same time. It's rugged but sweet as well.
Value
It is worth its weight in gold!!
Manufacturer Support
Haven't dealt with them yet.
The Wow Factor
It doesn't look as appetizing in pictures as it does in your hands.

"in a world of ripoffs, a breath of fresh air"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
great mic, extra extra great price. i have a home studio and i will use this mic until it bio-degrades. in case you wonder i AM extremely picky about my sound and explore many genres with music. this mic has never let me down when i take the time to optimize the situation in which i use it. seriously if i wanted a true, relevant upgrade i would have to spend over 500 more to hear a difference.
Sound
sounds better than mics that are considerably out of this price range
Features
runs on phantom power which is perfect for me
Ease of Use
its a mic!
Quality
seems very sturdy although i havent tried to get my elephant to stand on it yet
Value
there is no other comparison. genuine german capsule....assembled in china but any other one has a chinese capsule which are so inconsistant you take a big risk in buying one
Manufacturer Support
not needed yet after about a year
The Wow Factor
i prefer brunettes
