"A shootout between the AKG D5 and Sennheiser e935"

So, I have been sold on Sennheiser stage microphones for quite a while now... However, I bought an AKG D5 here at zZ for a holiday discounted price, and wow! This supercardioid AKG D5 is crystal clear compared to the cardioid Sinnhieser e935. I know that I’m comparing apples to oranges here, but the supercardioid like the AKG D5 is supposed to be a less clear mic, especially for a baritone because of the bass roll off thing... Or at least that’s what I’ve read? Anyhow, I’m sold on the AKG microphones now for sure! So, If this review helps this mic get into the hands of someone that can appreciate it like myself? It’s worth my time. Sing

I've run sound for over 20 years using many brands of microphones. This mic is crisper and cleaner than any other vocal mic I've ever used. Even non musical people can hear the difference.

Musical Background:

I've been involved in non-professional music for 50 years. From choirs to bands to solos to running sound.

Musical Style:

Traditional Christian, country gospel, southern gospel and some bluegrass gospel.

"The AKG D5 is a lot of mic for the money."

I feel like I have found my mic and I've been a musician for 25+ years.
Sound
This is a beautiful mic for the money, open, airy. I own three and am planning to buy a couple more, I've replaced the Shures I was using for stage mics. Everybody sounds better through these.
Features
It's a basic dynamic mic so not much in the features dept.
Ease of Use
Even singers with less than mic technique seem to do well with the D5 (it picks up sound well from a distance, very sensitive).
Quality
Again, this rating is for a $100 mic, I think these are made in China, but they seem pretty sturdy, I've had one of my D5s for at least 2 years or so, no problems, still sounds great.
Value
Great mic for the money
The Wow Factor
I think it's a nice looking mic, has a good heft to it, so those things add to its "sex appeal".

This mic blows my Shure SM58 and my Sennheiser out of the water. Not even close. AKG for me brother. Sounds better and is much more attractive. I don't even use a wind screen with it. Final verdict, WOW. For the price, unbeatable at any price.
