Wampler Faux Tape Echo with Tap Pedal

Wampler gives you the best of both worlds with the Faux Tape Echo pedal: a digital delay chip for pristine signal, and analog modulation for organic warmth.
The Wampler Faux Tape Echo with Tap pedal soaks your signal in awesome vintage-sounding tape delay, pairing an all-analog signal path with digital delay. This analog/digital hybrid pedal offers level, shade, repeats, and echo controls to shape the effect, and a bypass-able faux tape reel section features sway and movement dials that bring in organic modulation for your delayed tone. A true bypass system keeps your signal completely intact and unchanged from its original character, and a tap tempo switch allows you to set the tempo of your delay right on the spot. This baddie provides tonal versatility, warm tape-like sonic coloring, and all-around irresistible delay right at your feet.

All-Anolog Signal Path with Digital Delay Chip

You know you love it -- that warm and organic tape sound that just can't be ignored. Your Wampler Faux Tape Echo pedal provides your axe's signal with an all-analog path, adding a digital delay chip to bring in modern, crisp, clear delayed signal. This awesome hybrid means you get the best of both worlds. The digital settings provide pristine and well-articulated delay tones, and your analog single path gives you a well-replicated tape-like color. Play your guitar through this baby and feel the warmth ooze from your amp.

Dialing In the Delay

The controls on your Wampler Faux Tape Echo pedal feature level, shade, repeats, and echo dials. The Shade control brightens and darkens the delay, which gives you control over how present or more in the read more background the effect transpires. The echo control determines your delay time. The Level dial controls the overall volume of your signal, and the repeats control dials in the number of repetitions. Each dial is easy to read and grip, allowing you to make quick adjustments even during the middle of your set.

Faux Tape Reel Section

The Wampler Faux Tape Echo also features a bypass-able faux tape reel control section right between your Shade and Level control dials. The dials in this box allow you to control the modulation of the repeats. Push both the movement and sway dials to the right and you get a pretty aggressive modulating sound. This control section gives you even more room to explore interesting sounds to enhance your performance on stage or in the studio.

Tap Tempo

One final little treat this pedal boasts is its tap tempo switch on the bottom left. This control allows you to seamlessly set your delay to the tempo of the song you're playing with in real time -- giving you even greater hands-free control of your output signal with just a few quick taps of your foot.

Wampler Faux Tape Echo with Tap Pedal

The Faux Tape Echo delay has become a staple in Nashville and beyond, from masterful session guitarists to studio "house sound" collections -- and of course, on stages worldwide! Based around very carefully selected and very rigorously tested PT2399 delay chips, the Faux AnalogEcho and Faux Tape Echo circuits allowed pedal designer Brian Wampler to combine the note clarity of a sophisticated digital delay with an all-analog dry path (unaffected signal) and magnificent all-analog tone-shaping and modulation circuitry.

What does that actually mean for musicians? The answer to that is "everything!" With their hybrid design approach, you get the best of both worlds. You get note clarity, lower noise, and longer delay times from digital delays. You get the lovely warmth and little, exquisite touches that are usually reserved for analog delays. Nearly every part of the pedal, all of its major functions, are analog. The "delay line" is the only digital part of the signal path. It alone being digital brings clarity and focus to the task in a way that analog delay line chips can't really match.

But everything else, all the absolutely vital filtering to carefully finish the sound is pure analog. Every aspect of the modulation that gives the Faux Tape Echo pedal a unique function and tone and makes it desirable for people who want their delay tone to sound as good as tape delay units but without all the maintenance, supplies, and hassle? Totally analog. Your all-important fundamental dry tone is 100% analog, too.

So when they say it's the best of both worlds, they absolutely mean it. From country slap-back to ambient washes to straight-ahead rock and metal delay, the hybrid approach lets Brian make one pedal that can do it all.

Still, they wouldn't be Wampler Pedals if they didn't listen to their users, artists, and dealers, and take into account feature requests... In this case, they'd have to plug their fingers in their ears if they were to ignore all the people shouting for TAP TEMPO! And let's face it, Brian Wampler wouldn't be who he is if he weren't always thinking of a better way to accomplish something cool, in this case a great sounding and more adjustable modulation that will put the Faux Tape Echo's "Faux Tape Reel" into their most authentic territory yet.

This version of the Faux Tape Echo takes everything great about the original, and adds to it that much-requested tap tempo functionality that users have asking for, as well as Brian's idea in emulating the elusive and beautiful character that people look for in classic tape echo units. The time has come to unveil the Faux Tape Echo that everyone has been waiting for -- and they've all worked hard to make sure you're going to love it!
