I have been a bassist for over 15 years, but I have stuck mainly to four strings. I love my Fender basses. I have played a few five strings here and there, but could never get used to the narrow string spacing. This bass is excellent. The string spacing feels like a Jazz Bass...not smashed together. I regularly gig with two Fender Jazz Basses, and this Squier feels just as good as they do. Very good quality instrument. Smooth neck, no rough fretboard edges, reassuring weight, and the pickups sound just as good as MIM or even an American Fender.
Sound
I play heavier music, and this bass feels right at home...but I have no doubt it could do anything you need it to. It is a Jazz Bass after all!
Features
Neck feels great, pickups sound good, and the bound neck with the block inlays looks incredible.
Ease of Use
One volume for each pickup and a master tone knob. Those three knobs can give you a wide array of tones to fit any musical style.
Quality
The Classic Vibe 70s Jazz Bass V seems to be just as high quality of a lot of basses three times the price point.
Value
Probably one of the best five strings you are going to find at this price point.
