Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jaguar Electric Guitar, with Laurel Fingerboard

Get a taste of the real thing with this wallet-friendly Squier Jaguar! The bound laurel fingerboard features pearloid block inlays for period-correct style.

The Classic Vibe '70s Jaguar turns up the volume on retro style and produces incredible tone courtesy of its dual Fender-Designed alnico single coil pickups. Small hands will appreciate the short 24" scale length and slim, comfortable "C"-shaped neck profile with an easy-playing 9.5"-radius fingerboard and narrow-tall frets. This Jaguar is faithful to the original with a vintage-style tremolo system for expressive string bending effects and floating bridge with barrel saddles. This throwback Squier model also features 1970s inspired headstock markings, nickel-plated hardware and a slick vintage-tinted gloss neck finish for an old-school aesthetic vibe.

I bought this Squier Classic Vibe 70’s Jaguar to be a backup for my Kurt Cobain Jaguar. I new that being a Squier it would probably need a little work. Well not as much as I thought it would. The wood is absolutely gorgeous under the sunburst finish. I could have played it straight out of the box but it needed some setting up which is normal even on higher dollar guitars. I messed with it for a little while and realized right away that this instrument had a lot of potential. So I started to work on it. Some of these things were not absolutely necessary but it’s how I wanted it. First I found problems with the frets in the high register. I took the strings off and started to work. I located 2 frets that were very high so I took my file to them and now there is no fret problem. Even with action low. I took the stock tremolo off and put an American series one on it. Perfect fit. I just can’t do without a locking button. I also put an American series bridge on it. Not a Mustang bridge but an American Jaguar bridge. I then put Gotoh vintage internal locking machines on it. Direct fit. I am going to have to shim the neck some for proper break angle over the bridge. I have some coming tomorrow. I restrung it with DR .09’s, adjusted the truss rod and all other setup related issues. And lastly I set the intonation which was surprisingly easy with the new hardware. This may sound like a lot of work but it’s really not and it is very worth it. I’m a 55+ year guitar veteran and read more in my humble opinion this Squier Jaguar is now a professional grade instrument. I simply love the stock pickups. I see no reason at all to replace them. The build , fit, and finish quality is about as good as your likely to find. I really love playing this guitar. It’s a worthy addition to my collection. It feels nice and substantial in my hands and plays fantastic. It seems to be a keeper. I highly recommend it!
