The direct monitoring system on this product is worth the price tag alone. You can listen to all inputs and outputs individually, create custom mixes, and much more. Total Mix can look a little intimidating at first, but it is actually incredibly intuitive after you use it for a little while. This product comes with a clear 200-page book, not just a manual. Just about every advanced feature capability and routing option is available with this soundcard. It is definitely a soundcard that can grow with you. The preamps sound amazing and have a "ready to print" sound. The preamps can also be bypassed easily on all inputs if you have your own. If you want to use all 8 back analog outputs for recording. You can use a Y cable on the front headphone/line monitor for external monitors. Then route 1/2 to 9/10 or 11/12 in Total Mix. Save as a preset and you're done. You can use 9/10 for headphones and 11/12 for external monitors. If you feel limited by your current soundcard and are serious about your sound this is the soundcard for you. If you run a professional studio this is the best sound card on the market, along with the UFX+.
