I've been playing live metal shows for over a decade now, and I've been working my way up on improving my rig over the years. When my 1x15" cab died, I didn't play as much bass this past year. With my old band making a comeback this year, it gave me the opportunity to upgrade to a new bass cab.I knew I wanted a 4x10 after playing a 1x15 for years before it finally decided to call it quits. I borrowed fellow bands' cabs and preferred the 4x10 for what I'm doing, which is melodic death metal. Did some looking around I knew I wanted a modern cab and came across this. Read up on some reviews and found out this cab is great for metal music.I bought this cab on payment plans through zZoumds, for a slightly blemished discount which it didn't look too bad upon arrival. Plugged it in at rehearsal, and cranked up the volume on my SWR 750x amp, and WOW, this cab gets plenty loud and has alot of head room, that my amp soumds killer through this cabinet. I have no problem cutting through in a live situation. The low end is clear and tight, the top end comes through nice as well. The mids are pretty well rounded and defined. This cab will handle any style you throw at it. And I should also add that this cab certainly can handle Death Metal. This cabinet isn't super heavy, I can lift it by myself no problem, but I always have a bandmate help me load in and out. The amp didn't come with casters but has caster sockets, which I knew ahead of time so I bought ernie ball amp casters and they didn't read more fit the stock sockets, so I just swapped them out for the ernie all sockets and they work excellent. The amp has more weight in the front face, probably because the speakers are on that side and will tip over fowrard if there's more weight towards the front on top. My solution is just sit the amp closer to the back edge, it evens out and becomes not a problem but should be noted. After I pay this cabinet off, I'm considering getting a 2nd one to add for live shows. I probably wont need a 2nd one for practice because one gets loud enough, and I probably won't need a 2nd one live for the same reason, but I wanna push the full capability of my amp, because the live floor monitors usually suck.Peavey has really out done themselves with this bass cabinet series and I've never been a fan of their backline series but this cabinet can stand up against the more popular brands, like Ampeg Mesa Orange Markbass. This certainly is the best bass cabinet Peavey has come out with and I can see myself using this cabinet for a long time.
