I didn’t want to like this guitar as I was looking for a reason to get into the more expensive Core models. This guitar is my first foray into PRS and I must say that it is on a different level than any other import guitar I have owned...and that’s been dozens! The fit and finish is superb, fretwork is top notch and playability is better than any other guitar I’ve owned. These are bold statements to be sure, however I have been playing it for a month now and find them to be true. I sold my American Strat as a result of this guitar’s refined qualities. The tone takes some learning to dial in without being too harsh but this is common on PRS guitars in my experience. I played a CE22 Semi-Hollow prior to, and after, purchasing this guitar and other than the top not quite “popping” as much it is equal in every way. The 85/15 “S” pickups sound very good with nice tonal range and excellent harmonics. This is not a honeymoon review as I was actually very critical in my assessments. The only flaw I can find is that the veneer edge in the lower horn cutout stands out on my natural back and sides finish (whale blue). It isn’t really a flaw but rather something I wish would’ve been addressed. That said, this guitar is worth every penny what I paid and delivers the goods more into the $1200-$1500 price range.

Musical Background:

25 years playing guitar, non-professionally

Musical Style:

I play blues, blues rock in the styles of Gilmour, Clapton and Page.
