Housing a complete valve amp-style signal path, recreated in all-analogue electronics, the RevivalDRIVE features a streamlined set of controls that make it easier than ever to dial in a wide range of stunningly realistic valve amp tones.

Just like its bigger brother, the RevivalDRIVE Compact is all about real amp overdrive. By replicating the way a real valve amp behaves at circuit level, the RevivalDRIVE Compact delivers stunningly realistic tone, feel and dynamic response, ranging from clean to fully cranked.

With a built-in blend control to mix your clean and overdriven signals and a powerful Post-Drive EQ that shapes the pedal's output to suit the amp you're using, this is one compact pedal that leaves all other amp-in-a-box effects in its shadow.

Real valve amp sound and response

Inside the RevivalDRIVE Compact, Origin recreated every stage of a valve amp's signal path using all-analogue components, with discrete transistor-based circuitry standing in for the valves themselves.

The pedal's simplified controls directly shape key properties of this simulated amp circuit. By adjusting things like preamp voicing, break-up characteristics and low-frequency distortion, you can get straight to the key factors that govern great amp tone.

… read more In the designing the RevivalDRIVE Compact, Origin worked hard to distill the complex functionality of the original pedal into an intuitive set of controls while still retaining as much range as possible.

The brand-new Highs control takes the original pedal's three distinct preamp voicing modes and maps them onto a single, continuous knob that offers a wealth of new in-between settings.

Origin also redesigned the Blend knob to simultaneously back off the gain as you mix in your clean tone, ensuring pleasing, musical results throughout the control's travel.

Powerful Post-Drive EQ

While most overdrives will work well with some amps and less well with others, the RevivalDRIVE Compact's built-in Post-Drive EQ lets you tailor the output of the pedal to work with just about any amp, as well as flat-response power amps, mixers and recording interfaces.

The Post-Drive EQ means you don't have to compromise your preferred clean settings just because your overdrive sounds too harsh or too wooly. Simply set your amp how you like it, then adjust the RevivalDRIVE Compact's proprietary EQ filter until it sounds right.

The Revival Drive Compact. What can I say that hasn’t already been said? This is the third Origin Effects pedal I have purchased. The other two, The Cali 76 Compact Deluxe and The DCX boost, preamp pedal sound amazing! And as far as The RDC this will be the second time I have purchased this pedal. The first time I decided on the full size Revival Drive. Unfortunately, that pedal I pawned during an occupation change and by a terrible mistake let my 90 days lapse. I went to pay on the items and as I was waiting in line I seen the giant Revival Drive out front in a display case and I was devastated. Anyway now that I have found steady income I decided to go with the smaller version. It is much easier to dial in great tones. It’s more difficult to get a bad sound then it is to get awesome sounds out of this unit. But this review is more about zZounds B- stock inventory. I have purchased factory resealed items from zZounds on a number of occasions and couldn’t tell the difference between the resealed and brand new. However I was skeptical about the blemished inventory. Well my skepticism was put to bed. I can’t find a blemish on this unit. There is very minor scuffing on one side but it looks like it could be the way the pedal was made if I didn’t have the other side to compare with. Even with that being said I’m still not 100 percent sure if I am looking at scuffing. Bottom line I saved over $50 on this unit labeled blemished yet it looks and sounds great.
