These are better than the dsl 2000s. The dsl clean and crunch are great, but the od 1 and 2 are muddy . Every single one i played through were muddy. I played throgh a jcm 900 for a time in the early 90s. They were always clear and had bite . I will say channel 2 doesnt have as much gain as a dsl, but its enough for hard rock and classic metal. If you want more gain use active or very high output pups, a boost , distortion , you know the drill. I prefer clarity to anything else. Also , even on the gain channel you can clean up with the knob . And to those that say it has diode clipping, so does od pedals , distortion pedals etc. As well as the silver jubalee. Most of your real tube tone comes from the poweramp. If you are looking for chugga metal straight into the amp , this aint it. If you play real music anything from country and jazz to classic metal like judast priest or scorpions, this will handle that fine straight in .
