Mojotone Rene Martinez Texas Strat Prewired PG Pickups

Get straight to the source of Texas blues with this prewired pickguard. SRV's guitar tech Rene Martinez helped design these alnico pickups for pure tone.

Mojotone is excited to work with such a renowned luthier to develop the new Rene Martinez "Texas" Strat Pickups. These were developed to emulate that specific and unique "Texas Tone" which was inspired by the one and only SRV. Rene Martinez was originally Stevie Ray Vaughan's guitar tech. He also worked with Eddie Brickell, Mick Jones of Foreigner, Clint Black, Prince, The Moody Blues, Jimmie Vaughan, Carlos Santana, and currently John Mayer.

The magnets are customized Alnico III in the neck and middle and Alnico V in the bridge to give a full and balanced tone. You get that clean, ultra clear neck and middle tone that lets your amp shape your tone, while the bridge pickup is hotter with more girth and punch, and a sonic clarity that cuts through with attitude. The coils are calibrated from neck to bridge for an even volume throughout the switching.

I put these in my 2016 MIM Strat swapping out a set of HSH Blacktops because I wanted a more Mayer, SRV Strat tone. Ive been really into learning Hendrix style rythem playing with chord embellishments (bold as love or SRVs Lenny) and the HSH setup just wasnt going it for me. Installation was extremely easy (following the youtube guide) probably 15 mins in total and Wow, I havent been able to put my guitar down since. I was debating for days between these and the duncan Hendrix set, while I cant speak for the latter, I know these pickups are exactly what I was looking for.. i can sit and play the intro riff to Slow Dancing in a Burning room for hours and not get tired of hearing it. The snap and clarity in the 4/5 position is amazing. The balance in these pickups really surprised me as well each string rings out the same volume (no piercing high e strings on chords) These really brought my MIM strat to life. I would 100% purchase again. The bridge pickup is hot enough to get some nice lead tones but these pickups are definately voiced for a classic blues rock sound (I guess I'll have to find a used Ibanez or jackson to get my random Metallica riff fix in). The only wish I had was they came with different pickguard colors or pickup covers but those are cheap on Amazon. 10/10 love these.
